Its a little late, but its the last one in the series, as the first one was written in October last year. Its been a good run, and theres been a few surprises along the way (the first console was released WHEN?!?!), but all good things come to an end.

1988 - Nintendo release Super Mario Bros 2 on the NES in the US. Others will know this is nothing more than a reskinned Doki Doki Panic for the Western market.
1992 - Friendships are destroyed forever and divorces hit an all time high as Super Mario Kart is released for the SNES.
1998 - Nintendo release Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue for the GameBoy in the US. They do alright...
2004 - Nokia announces it has shipped 1,000,000 N-Gage units, and only the tech savvy and the cool have bought them. Right, Pie? *brofist*

1999 - ADV Films release Sonic The Hedgehog - The Movie on DVD and VHS. Wait, what?
8th1999 - Square EA release Final Fantasy 8 for the PlayStation in the US.
9th1991 - Nintendo announce that the SNES is now available worldwide, and comes bundled with Super Mario World.
1994 - Acclaim release Mortal Kombat II to arcades.
1995 - Sony release the PlayStation in the US, with 100,000 units selling in the first two days.
1999 - SEGA RELEASES THE GODDAMN DREAMCAST IN THE US! HOLY SHIT. 514,000 ARE SOLD IN THE FIRST FORTNIGHT. RELEASE TITLES ARE SONIC ADVENTURE, SOUL CALIBUR AND NFL 2K. JESUS SHIT.
2004 - Nintendo release Pokemon Leaf Green and Fire Red for the GBA in the US. They sell alright.
10th2004 - Screen Gems release Resident Evil: Apocalypse into cinemas. No, I don't know why either.
13th1993 - Acclaim release Mortal Kombat for pretty much every home console going. The SNES version has no blood and revised fatalities, and although graphically superior to the MegaDrive/Genesis version, is nowhere near as fun.
2005 - EA release Burnout Revenge on the PS2 and Xbox in the US.
2006 - Nintendo release the DS Lite. This is the second of, what, 27 total reissues?
14th2001 - Nintendo releases the GameCube in Japan, alongside Luigis Mansion (fuck yeah), Wave Race Blue Storm and Super Monkey Ball. The GameCube, crafted from materials too strong for mere mortals to sculpt with, it was sent down from the heavens to be dramatically unsupported, save for a few killer games that went largely ignored because Nintendo were just too gobsmacked by its awesomeness that they forgot to market the shit out of it. Shame...
2004 - Microsoft releases Fable on the Xbox in the US.

2005 - Midway releases Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks for the PS2 and Xbox in the US. Its a pretty nifty little game, criminally overlooked. Find it in a bargain bin, I suggest buying it.
21st1992 - Jeff Hansen of the US beats Yuichi Suyama of Japan to become the World Nintendo Champion. Whatever that is...
23rd2007 - Microsoft releases Halo 3 for the Xbox 360 in the US. First day sales total a massive $170,000,000. Thats DAY ONE, people.

27th1983 - In one of gamings' darkest days, Atari dumps 14 truckloads of game cartridges and other computer equipment in a landfill in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Almost 6,000,000 "ET: The Extra Terrestrial" cartidges are included in the dump.
29th1995 - Sony release the PlayStation in Europe, 600,000 sold by the end of the year.
1996 - Nintendo release the Nintendo Sixty FOOOOOOUUUUUURRRRRR in the US, with 350,000 selling in the first three days.
