I would be more than happy to be involved in a podcast, as long as there isn't a chronic buttfuckshitload of PM's spamming my inboxes on both UUDD and MSN.

Did you guys at least take my advice that I left before asking for the royal boot in that clusterfuck of a PM chain?
I sure as hell hope that you guys had some sort of guidelines to follow when doing that audio train wreck...

Speaking of that audio train wreck... Where the hell is it? I wanna hear it.

Also, time arrangements are always necessary because my schedule, among many other people's, sucks. However, what I mean by sucks, in my case anyway, I mean I'm free pretty much all day after around 4. If you guys could schedule a podcast around 5, I'd be able to make that no problem on damn near any day ever.

Joe has the file. Ask him. Honestly If we "were" to do a podcast we would need to get a bunch of this sorted out.
1. Studio Microphones
2. A good recorder
3. If we could pull off having a podcast with us actually in a room doing it I think that would be awesome! And could happen. Ben and Max live close by we could totally pull this off.
4. We are going to need notes, a good plan, and a good podcast editor.

Once that is all settled I think we can have something go for us.

Claiming that we'd need studio Microphones is a joke.

You're doing a forum Podcast, not a coast to coast radio show.

Now that I've got a general idea of the current state of my eyes, I have time and am in a proper frame of mind to do something like this.

^Studio microphones may be a bit of a hyperbole, but trust me, listening to shitty-sounding voices for no matter how long gets annoying. Decent sound quality is a must, especially for spoken content.

Speaking of which, I'll be all up for being part of/setting up something with you peeps after my exams (May 23rd). :D

you do not need studio mics.
and besides you would be the only one with one, which would just make average mics sound shitty by comparison and just make things worse.

Rock Band mic's with skype is terrible. You need a good headset or a decent stand up mic. But most of the podcasts are done with studio mic's.

I have a £4 headset, with those silly little 3.5mm (I think?) inputs. Works like a dream.

pretty sure most averagely priced headsets will be fine.
of course most podcasts are done with studio mics, seeing as, y'know, they're produced in STUDIOS, funded by COMPANIES.
thats a thing we don't have, and a thing we are not, so...

Engadget does podcasts all the time and they are mostly on the road when recording them. They bring mics with them and I think one guy uses a Mac book so he just uses the mic on that.

that doesn't change the fact that they're owned and funded by AOL.

Good mic, shit sound card? Sounds terrible

Bad mic, good sound card? Sounds terrible.

Average mic, average sound card? I'll settle with that so long as it's set up right. Even top quality kit can sound shit if it's encoded wrong.

As already said before though, most pro podcasts have the money to buy top setups, even when on the road. As also said, we are neither pro, nor have the money. As long as we were to do the best with what we have, then I see no real problems.
