Philosophy Thread: Meaning of life?

I think the meaning of life is to live. We as human beings have been given a unique gift by evolution: consciousness. And as far as evolution goes, we have this because it happened to help us survive. But evolution doesn't take into account the unique challenges in being human and conscious. It's something we're stuck with, for better or worse. But it allows us to experience life in a way no other creature can. I think, since we happen to have such a high capability for experiencing life, that the reason behind living is simply to experience life. The big events and the small events in life are all important, all significant experiences.

we're a random occurrence in the process of evolution and our purpose in life is to survive, reproduce and continue our species.
what we achieve along the way are merely extras that will help our children/the species survive.

As for the meaning of liff, I agree mostly with Torez, there is no higher meaning to life other than to live and enjoy it. Sure, if you can put a smile on someones face along the way, bonus score at the end.
