for those who dont know: a few years ago, south park made fun of family guy in a two parter called cartoon wars. if you went on any south park fan forum, they were acting as though family guy made fun of them, while family guy fans were "that was funny"(im using my experience from myspace). when the 10th season came out on DVD, commentary on the episodes had the creators saying that fans of south park cannot like family guy as well and essensally saying that those that like both are tools.

what do you think? is this them being hypocrytes?(considering that their show encourages freedom to do whatever they want) or a joke that some hardcore SP fans took too seriously?

I don't really like South Park. It's kinda retarded. I kinda like Family Guy, hell I like it way more than South Park, but I think they're both kind of immature. South Park is REALLY immature.

I just want to say cartoon wars was hilarious and nails all the reasons I hate family guy. Also, the SP authors be trolling. Of course you can like both. But I guess it'd take a rather broad taste in comedy.

Family Guy got far to in to pop-culture references to the point it really didn't make sense after it came back for the 4th season. Before that I was a big fan.

I don't think the two are exclusive, and yes any one who takes anything Matt and Trey say as 100% serious is taking it too far and missing the point. Certainly they appeal to different types of humor, but that is not to say there cannot be overlap.

Sorry my balls dropped a long time ago and I don't argue what my favorite cartoon is, their both enjoyable, btw.

I never really liked South Park and I no longer enjoy Family Guy. The early seasons were funny but then it just got to be a bit too much of the same old jokes.

I think that comparing the two is nigh-on impossible, considering they're both very VERY different shows.

South Park is the more topical, current agenda watching, often thought provoking show. Its episodes have gone from balls-out stupid to incredibly edgy, and it hasn't always paid off. Some episodes suffered from a case of being too up their own arse, some suffered from being too serious, but most managed to make it into the "absolute fucking stroke of genius" category.

Family Guy doesn't subscribe to any of those outlets. It doesn't take itself too seriously, it doesn't try to be something it isn't, and its only message is to have a giggle at every opportunity.

For me, Family Guy is the one that is the most consistently funny, with very few dull episodes. South Park has a lot of hit and miss episodes, and even a few total miss episodes, but when they do it right, by God, they do it right.

To say you can't like both is stupid. Its like saying if you like Ferraris, you aren't allowed to like Shortcake.

I agree that bombing Seth would be better than muslims. Not coz I don't like Seth, but one man instead of a race seems like a good idea. If bombs have to be dropped that is.
