We've already established that I don't play Pokemon to catch them. I'm just giving an understanding of a catch rate formula that should be followed it you want to, say, catch a Rayquaza with a Pokeball.

In WoW, you use the best attack/spell on your toughest enemy/Teammate with the most HP. Change words around for any game.
And suddenly, all math is again rendered obsolete because these are fucking video games.

not quite Terra. In WoW you actually use your formulas to determine the best possible combination of armor and weapons for your talent spec. You don't just say, well this is my strongest attack so I'll use it the most. You have to determine if 10 more haste is going to do better than 4 more Agility and such.

Anyways, my input.

WoW =/= Pokemon.

They're [nearly] two completely different game types that are [nearly] beyond any comparison.

Now for the math thing, I highly doubt anybody thinks through all of that math [besides devs] when attempting to chuck a pokeball at a level 5 Bidoof. The same could also be said for any player on WoW (Yes. I do indeed play WoW. I'm not a buff on it, but I'm around level 37 and continuing once I buy another time card. I fucking love it btw.).
Although (in my own experience) WoW may get you thinking a lot more when charging into battle than pokemon, that doesn't shaft the fact that I have nearly no clue what all that math means.

All I know is the following:

WoW - Run around in a big adventure. Plan your attacks cause enemies are visible. You gain quests and complete as given to you. You can change up your weapons and armor as you progress, and you do the fighting yourself.

Pokemon - Run around in a big adventure. You cannot plan strikes, although you can try and predict them using items. You gain no quests, but have one common goal in mind. Capture pets and make them stronger by killing more. You do no fighting.

In fact, it made more sense when comparing it to Final Fantasy (which at least made a scrap of sense to me.. not like much does in the RPG world anyways. I'm not too into them, though I do enjoy some).

How did we go along comparing what mathematical equations go into the outcome of certain events in the two?

I assume you're referring to the PvP battles right?
That shit requires a lot of thinking cause you don't know what's coming at you (Unless you're my level. Then it's a bunch of the lifeless with their 3rd account wielding the most enchanted weapons and sporting the most expensive armor, obviously funded by their first account. :3 )

This isn't even an argument IMO. Pokemon is complete and utter garbage, and Final Fantasy is amazing.
