It's not a step in any direction but backwards. Anything that the health insurance companies had a hand in composing is going to fuck the public over more than they're getting fucked now. I still pray every night that Congress will experience a collective epiphany, wake the fuck up, and kick this shit to the curb where it belongs.

I see good that can come from this, but we'll have to wait and see what the final document that gets penned reads, before any of us can make a real call on it I guess. Obama wanted public option healthcare, I'm sure he's not going to abondon that in favor of another system that'll favor insurance companies. There must be serious concessions here, if he was even willing to deal on it.

My guess, Obama gets some, but not all, of what he set out for (which is the obvious). In return he drops his lobbying for certain other things he was trying to get. Hence the deal.

^Probably, though the only real good I see coming from this is that we'll finally have something that has PUBLIC HEALTHCARE REFORM stamped on it pass, and that'll encourage people to submit some ACTUAL public healthcare reform.

Looks like the Senate sneaked in a test vote if I'm hearing correctly and can pass it with the 60 votes, since they bought a few using our tax dollars.

Then they need to rework it with the bill that passed the house and send them through both chambers again.

If they succeed, I shall refer you to this:

Note: If a healthcare bill with a public option passes I'll be moving to Germany, since there won't be all that much difference.

So, Euros. Wanna help me get info on moving to Germany?

Edit: Also, Nevada is PISSED at Harry Reid. I don't see him getting re-elected. Shame, since he was a good senator until he jumped from Independent to Democrat.

When I saw NHS, I thought "National Honor Society" since I'm American.

Then I finally got it.

Then I wondered what this quote pertains to considering no conservative in the senate has supported anything like the NHS.

Then I assumed that it must have something to do with what's currently happening across the ocean.

Then I stopped caring.
