Ok so...

I was having a bit debate at work the other day, in regards to which of the TWO terminator movies was the best.

I can't say whether I said The Terminator or Terminator 2 (Blokey could guess), but I need this solving. I though it was obvious for a long time, but it seems I'm surrounded by cinematic morons.

So come on guys, make me proud....please...

Yeah he's supposed to be a robot but shows emotion in the second. He's all like "Oh yes, now I know why you cry"....WHAT? THAT'S NOT A RELENTLESS MACHINE!

And for me there's no comparison between firing a minigun from a building, and crashing a car right into a police station, in order to get his victim.

There was no fear in the second, because The Connors had a machine on their side, so whenever the T-1000 appeared, he would just get shot to shit and be stalled. In the first, it was edge-of-the-seat brown moments of "holy shit, how are they gonna get away?". This was a relentless machine that was gonna stop at nothing...NOTHING to get it's target. And even when Reese dies, Sarah Connor's still left to deal with it, and escapes by the skin of her teeth.

Second was just action for me. Yes it was fantastic action, and an amazing movie, but cutting his arm and ripping it of to show his endo-skeleton was just an effects brag. Cutting his eyes out and fixing his joints shit me up.

I dunno...I don't want to just brag about how much it's better. Can anyone else think of a real reason why they prefer the second to the first?

I agree, the bit where he fixes himself up in T1 was fantastic. :D

I have no real reason for preferring T2 toT1, I love both films. Just feel that I love T2 slightly more. I like a guy who can stab somebody with his arm...

But then again I thought that liquid metal crap was just stupid. Yeah the effects still look wicked today, but it's just so unrealistic. I can take the TX more seriously (as a baddie, not the context of the film she was placed in), considering she actually had something to destroy.

In the recent terminator comic, there was a "terminator infinity", which was basically another attempt to make the "ultimate terminator", but these writers don't understand that less is more. This is a typical attempt to try the most obvious way to best a previous attempt, by bringing in something more, that's bigger and badder than the previous, and for the most, these "cinematic morons" lick it all up in films. That, in my opinion, is why Terminator Salvation was such a smash hit, because it focused on story and not a meaner machine. In fact the machines in that film were inferior due to the timeline.

It's like the shitty new spiderman films that they've been making for the last decade. They've taken all the important story modules from the scrips and thrown money and effects at it. And people buy into this. In the latest one he has like, 3 enemies. What the hell is up with that? It's overkill.

Okay I guess I've flown off topic a bit, but it'd be very interesting to learn how people feel about this, with progessions of sequels and stories.

Well, to be fair, in the comics, he has like, 200 enemies. All at once.

Never had more than a few, unless he had help. Like in secret wars where he got the black costume...
