Well. Windows XP has been in the market longer thus driver support, stability, yada yada yada.

But from a pure architectural standpoint, Vista is eons ahead of XP. It's too bad that some of what they did on top of the much better core of the OS, really hurt it's chances of shining. I'm looking at you UAC.

The UAC was tooo much but besides that I think it is faster and *gulp* is more stable than XP.

Vista did a lot of things right. But the things it did wrong are too great to overlook. My vote goes to XP.

XP is sooooo fucking old. It's ancient. Vista is just really unstable and bloated.. So, XP wins, because it is kinda usable even though it lacks almost all features taken for granted in a modern OS.

It takes up TONS of space. It's got so many processes and whatnot and is really slow on older hardware. While, my Linux Mint system fits in under 700 mb and uses barely no memory while idling.

It's supposed to, these are the battlegrounds =) I'll no doubt lose later on though, when all the windowers flood this thread.. And I'm like the only one using Linux too, so..

Why would you use Vista on a older pc? And seb, when I reinstalled Vista I have not gotten a blue screen yet. When I had it before and kept getting all the blue screens of death was not Vista's fault. It was 3 party programs that I was downloading. So, before you go saying Oh vista sucks because it is not stable because it is stable it is just the 3 party programs that keep crashing it.

Yeah, that sucks. An operating system that can be crashed with applications is poorly designed. You can't crash Linux with an app, at least it's extremely hard to.

And yeah, I wouldn't use Vista on an older PC because it's so slow. But, the thing is, it's slow on a modern PC too. A modern PC can be much faster with the right OS.

I dunno why people always respond with "I never/rarely got a bluescreen" when you point out the instability of Windows. The bluescreen is a kernel panic, in other words, A VERY SERIOUS FAILURE. That shouldn't normally happen (ever) on a functioning system. On Windows, I often experience lockup of Windows components, such as explorer, random slowdown and other things that are either Windows components or 3rd party apps somehow interfering with the OS.. Among other things.

If you wanna know, I did get a kernel panic in Linux once.
