How much are those going for now-a-days? My wife needs one... :hmm:

I heard Wal-Mart has a pretty good deal on 'em. It's in a special isle. It's there. But it's like the entrance to Hogwart's. You've gotta believe that it's there.

yeah SIDS...and that comment was pretty funny. Dawgs argument was that things happen to people because of the choices they make. My argument is that babies don't make any choices and can still die for unknown reasons having nothing to do with the choices of the parents.

And please explain to me how my free will should have any effect whatsoever on a 2 week old that lives on the other side of the planet.

I wouldn't put words in Dawg's mouth, but the general response I get to your question is:

"It was God's will."

To which I would respond:

"God's a baby-killer."

It's not my fault if BLOKEY referred us to this thread.

-You didn't read what I said earlier.
That or I didn't word it properly

Quote:
And like I said before, bad happenings aren't punishment. They are the product of somebody else's choice, and/or sin.
(like robberies, those are somebody's fucked up choices. AIDS... technically a choice. Cancer, product of corruption in the world. Sickness, pain, etc.)

That meaning, not the sin of a specific person, but the corruption of the world in general. When Adam and Eve both did the dirty deed (no not THAT one.. perverts  ), everything bad was unleashed on the world. The before unknown pain, fear, and every other uncomfortable feeling was upon them. That as well as sickness and such. The world got corrupted, such as the result of pain and sickness, regardless of what you decide happens. Of course, stabbings, are of choice.

I figured that I made that line between consequence and random happenings clear, but apparently not. Sorry, I'm not too good at debates. :3

-Your choice doesn't effect someone miles away (unless you hijack a plane or something). As said above, stuff happens regardless because of the worlds corruption.

.. Well, smokey said it better than I could've here. Shit happens, bro.

@Heru - There's still strong discussions on video games. I usually stay away from threads like this, but every once in a while I pop in to try and put my opinion out there. I know what you mean though, it's a bit upsetting to see the topic pop up every now and again... Though I gotta say, this is the Everything Else forum... I don't see God in any... oh... The Real World..
Subliminal Messaging anyone? lol

So you actually do believe that we are all descended from 2 people who would have had no clue how to survive outside of their precious garden and who would have had retarded grandchildren since the only people their kids could screw would be their other kids? I doubt any species in that scenario would last for very long.

...and yes, this is pertinent to the God vs. Evolution debate.

1. Gonna move this thread to The Battlegrounds and change the title to something a little more appropriate.

2. So far, no personal attacks. Good work guys (srsly). Lets keep it this way, otherwise, lock.

3. I've never been a fan of religion. It causes more pain, suffering and upset than.... no, it doesn't cause it, but its generally the catalyst, for more pain, suffering and upset than anything else on the planet. People use religion as a way to explain things that they cannot understand, or in some cases, do not want to understand.

I like the old "If God made man in His image, then God is flawed to fuck, just as man is." argument, which totally destroys the whole infallability thing. Then there's the "Can God make a rock so big he can't move it", both answers totally destroying any credibility God ever had. Those questions tend to be skirted around by religious people, because they don't like the answers.

But you know what? While I have issues with religion as a whole, I can't sit back and say that all religious people are idiots. Some people say God influences their lives, and they're good people, so its a good thing. Some people say there is no God and are dickheads, and thats a bad thing. But the same can be said for any group of people.

My own views is that there is no God. If there is, then he's one evil son of a bitch. To allow people to be raped, murdered, beaten, every single day, and to sit back and do nothing. To allow babies to die within minutes of being born. This "everyone is born with original sin" thing is bullshit. Babies who are stillborn never had the chance to be born, let alone to be given time to do something wrong. Everyone is tarred with the same brush by this almighty being, simply because the first two people he ever made (in his own image, mind) gave into temptation (read: human nature) and had sex.

1. How else did he expect the human race to reproduce?
2. He gave them a cock and a clopper for a reason.

The whole story is flawed to fuck, full of holes, and full of hypocrisy. But thats just my own view.

Smokey and Dawg may not agree, but you know what? They're good people, so what does it matter? The way I see it, I don't give a fuck WHO your imaginary friend with personality disorder is, provided you're not a tool, you're fine by me. :)
