If you're wondering, 20 hours in (I've been playing it for pretty much all the time I have spare), and I can only find ONE thing that relates to anything homosexual. You have one member of the Normandy who is gay. And then he's hardly open about it. Doubtless it'll matter, as the various axes are being ground publicly here, but this is how you find out. Fuck spoiler tags as well. Lt Steve Cortez left his husband during the first Reaper assault on the world that they lived. He had to leave the love of his life, to basically be slaughtered, and knew that there was nothing he could do about it. His husband was too badly wounded to be of any use to the Alliance, and wasn't in any kind of military position, so didn't get a medical evacuation. How do you find this out? You walk into the shuttle bay, to find Cortez listening to the recording, crying. Even playing through as a male Shepard, there's no option to offer any kind of assistance that even borders on moving away from the extremely homophobic stance that the vocal fucking retards in the gaming community have. And now you know. So once again, fuck your spoiler tags, and seriously, even before the game came out, you had the preconception that because one writer in a team wrote something "icky", that the entire story would be undermined because of it. This is the very reason why I don't read press previews, and it's certainly a major reason why I end up paying hard earned money to play things that I wouldn't had dared to previously, just because they didn't fit in with my preference of MMO, RPG, and RTS. It's also one of the reasons why I don't just read one source on a game that I'm thinking about buying. I wait until I can read a shitload of them, and then I'll make a choice. You all had your choices made before the game was even fucking released. Fuck this noise, I'm going back to ME3. |

The thing is, that all this talk about men sucking each others dicks... Yeah, that bit that I just cannot find in ME3. Every time I get back on the Normandy, I go back to speak to the shuttle guy, to see if there's anything else. Nothing. Every time. All I get is just "Shepard. Good to see you again". No offer of dick sucking. Nothing. Oh, and I found another same-sex thing. An Alliance soldier, after the attack on the Citadel, is asking where her Asari wife is. You know, that race that is pretty open to what species they fuck, and regardless of what sex they are. Also, Morinth. Lesbian. Relationship with a female human artist. Protip: Jennifer Hepler didn't work on Mass Effect 2, and no one said fuck all about the overt lesbians. Tell you what, I really cannot be fucked with this. Lock my account, I'm out permanently. Homophobia, or hypocrisy, pick whichever one you'd prefer me to label the gaming community with, but I am officially done. |

I just did a quick review of this entire thread, just in case I'm going mental. Only one person mentioned ME3 other than Nubnos, and that was HGW, only to ask if she really was pushing her yaoi fanfic into it. I replied, saying that there are often threads on /v/ taking screencaps and posting links to where she's said outragous things about games, but nothing about ME3. I even confirmed in one post to Ax that Hepler only worked on the DA games and SW:TOR. But other than that, only Nubnos mentioned ME3. Fable got more mentions than ME3, and even Uncharted got a mention. Everyone else said (essentially) that Hepler was a writer, but her style is not suited to her current role. So, what the holy fuck he's been smoking this weekend I have no fucking idea, but I'm pretty certain he needs to stop it. Not that he's gonna be here to read this sage advice, but I can see he's already badmouthing us all on Twitter. What a guy, eh? |
