1st
1990 - Nintendo release Dr Mario for the GameBoy in the US.
1999 - Nintendo release the Nintendo Sixty FOOOOOOUUUUUURRRRRR DD disk drive in Japan. Total lifetime sales: 250,000


2nd
1999 - Sega releases Shenmueon the Dreamcast in Japan.
2004 - Nintendo release the Nintendo DS in Japan. 500,000 units are sold in the first four days. Iwata and Miyamoto are later seen laughing as they hold a DS that literally prints money.
2005 - Microsoft launches the Xbox 360 in Europe.
2006 - Nintendo releases the Wii in Japan.


3rd
1994 - Sony introduce the PlayStation in Japan. 100,000 units sell in the first two days.
1996 - Acclaim releases Mortal Kombat Trilogy for the Saturn in the US.
2001 - Nintendo releases Super Smash Bros Melee for the GameCube in the US. Total lifetime sales: 5.5,000,000.

2005 - Nintendo release the Super Mario Strikers game on GameCube in the US.


7th
2009 - Nintendo releases The Legend Of Zelda: Spirit Tracks on the Nintendo DS.

1999 - Sony releases Gran Turismo 2 on the PlayStation in the US.


9th
1995 - Enix releases Dragon Quest VI for the Super Famicom in Japan. 3.2,000,000 units sold to date.
1998 - Lucasarts release Star Wars: Rogue Squadron for the Nintendo Sixty FOOOOOOUUUUUURRRRRR in the US.


10th
1978 - Carl Stones, legend of gaming, is born.
2005 - icrosoft launches the Xbox 360 in Japan. 41,817 units sold in the first two days.

2008 - Sony opens up PS Home for open beta testing.


12th
2004 - Sony release the PSP in Japan. 200,000 units sell out "very quickly".


14th
1978 - Chris Armitage, owner of a paltry 2 Platinum trophies, is born.
1993 - Nintendo releases Fire Emblem for the Super Famicom in Japan, and is the first ever 24-Megabit cartridge.
2001 - The Australian government bans the sale of GTAII due to its "graphic violence".


16th
1982 - The ABC TV network airs the half-hour animated special Christmas Comes to Pac-Land.
1993 - Toys R Us in the USA stops selling the Sega Genesis game Night Trap, due to complaints about violence.


17th
1987 - Capcom release the first ever Mega Man game on the Famicom in Japan.


18th
1987 - Squaresoft release the first ever Final Fantasy game on the Famicom in Japan.
2001 - Square release Final Fantasy X for the PS2 in the US.


22nd
1987 - Konami release the first ever Metal Gear game on the Famicom in Japan.


23rd
1994 - The frankly god-awful Street Fighter movie opens in the US. Total ticket sales: $34,000,000.

1993 - Acclaim releases Mortal Kombat for the SNES, Game Gear and GameBoy in Japan.

2006 - A hacker releases a customer 3.02 firmware for the PSP, allowing it to play any PS1 game from a memory stick. PSP owners enjoy a very happy Christmas.
