PS4 on course to beat the PS2

Looks like the PS4 is on course to beat the PS2 in sales. What do you guys think of the PS4 becoming the new PS2 for Sony?

Its still early days, but even with such a small (and shared with Xbone) catalog, just because of the tech itself, I can see it happening.

And I'm fine with it. Because its a great machine.

But without games...

I agree with the games issue. Maybe Im just being a narcissist, but I hate 95% of the PS4 catalog and there's not a lot on the horizon. My PS4 is collecting dust.

The XB1 catalog is even worse, though.

BUT if the PS4 goes down the PS2 route, then in a few years it'll be swimming in delicious vidya.

To be fair, Mercenary Kings, Don't Starve, Stick It To The Man, Resogun, and Outlast are all outstanding games, and free since launch (if you have PS+) but in terms of blockbuster titles, it's far too early to tell.

Speaking of free games when planetside 2 comes to the PS4 you guys need to get it. If you love MAG you will love this game ten times more. Trust me on this I have 78 hours in the game.

Hated Don't Starve
Resogun is fun but very short (co-op'd on nearly the hardest difficulty in an hour)
Outlast was 2spooky4me

Don't know about the others

also hated BF4 multiplayer and everything about KZ:SF except how pretty it was

No chance imo the PS4 outsell the PS2 in the long run.

The numbers look great, but Microsoft wasn't really a player in the console space until the 360, and the GameCube was pretty unfairly maligned. The market isn't ripe to be dominated like that by any machine today. I just don't see it.

PS4 has sold very well, but it's now at the point where there is consistently stock available at stores. The early adopters have it. Sales will level off.

As for games, both need something to come out pretty badly, but I easily like the XB1 lineup over the PS4 at this point in time. Both regarding what's out, and what we know about coming.

Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, Forza 5, Ryse (which is far better than credited for), Titanfall, Plants vs Zombies Modern Warfare. Project Spark is surprisingly fun.

D4, Below, Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, Fable Legends, and new Gears of War all on the horizons. I suppose there's Halo too, but I don't care.
