shortest open beta ever. I was in New York for this but not that big of a deal. Wouldn't have been able to do much in one weekend. May end up buying this. Hate monthly fees when i have so many other games I want to play.

Fees are cheap as hell for a basic package, and even the most expensive is less than £8, which is cheaper than WoW - I think.

It sure is. Haven't been asked to pay anything yet. I think it does say on the box too. Free for first 30 days.

I got a whole bunch of free shit, what with the early access and the collectors edition and everything.

I have no idea whether this game is good or whether it sucks; since, you know, you kinda need to play the game first. Problem? Yep, I'd say so. Every single server is closed to new characters. Translated, this means "WOW GUYS WE DONE FUCKED UP GOOD AND NOT BOUGHT ENOUGH SERVERS".

Again /sigh This happened with FFXIV mk.1 too.

Square Enix can go die a horrible painful death. They have no idea how to run an online game, despite plenty of practice and supposed lessons learned.

You know, I'd be fine with that if it wasnt for the fact that I ought not to be in this situation.

As a player who already owned FFXIV version 1, I was supposedly due to receive an early access code, which to this day, I have not received. Had I received it, I could have been able to play during the weekend and thus ensured that I could at least create a character on the same server as Blokeh.

So lacking the code, I had no choice but to buy a new copy of the game, which I can not use because I can't create a character on any server whatsoever.

So far, I'm not impressed.

Should contact Square about that. That's just them being dicks.

Nah it's ok mate, just a bit of sour grapes on my part. I was going to buy a PS3 copy anyway, and I was able to download the client for the PC for free from a link they made available to us legacy players. Midnight passed and whilst not every server is open, I noticed that blokeh's server is open again so I nabbed a spot there when I could.

I'm just a little disheartened that of all the lessons Square Enix learned from the original launch, server management isn't one of them.

If you had bought the game before release date,or downloaded the client, you would have received a registration code. Upon redemption, you would have gotten early access, a Moogle Cap that nets you +%20 exp up to level 10 and a Cait Sith minion doll.

As you didn't get it til yesterday, you wouldn't have gotten the code, as early access was over.

Congestion is a problem already, but what new MMO doesn't have this? Folk are talking about the World.Boss, which hits for 1017 every time (1017 is the error code for LOL WORLD FULL) but I only had that problem for eight minutes before I got on last night.

I hear that the JAP worlds have 300+ servers for 1mil players, and NA/EU worlds have 100-ish servers for 3mil players. Not sure if true, but silly on SE's part if it is.

No no dude you misunderstand. As an original FFXIV player, I should have received an early access code. Whether and when I'd bought the new game on disc is irrelevant; I should have received a code. I did not, because Square Enix done fucked up.

Hence the butthurt.
