So, I was at Otakon (2nd largest anime con in the US) at the beginning of August. It was kind of a dud when compared to last year.

The evening of the first day, I made some bookface post about the Baltimore Orioles game. Shortly thereafter, I got a message from a friend, "I'M IN BALTIMORE!" It was an online friend I've known since I was like 13 from AOL. In fact, back then she was even my online "girlfriend" (oh, AOL, you little scamp!). I asked where she was staying, and said I'd be there in 5 minutes, since I live like 3 blocks away.

I was expecting maybe a half hour of, "Hey, cool to finally meet you." but that turned into about four and a half hours of catching up and talking and walking about. As we walked down the street she clung to my arm and was like, "It's just cause this area doesn't feel safe." Reasonable. It IS downtown Baltimore. After we walked back to her hotel, we spent time chatting in the lobby sitting on a sofa thing. She was still clinging to my arm. So, when it was time for me to leave, I kissed her.

Needless to say we spent the entire weekend together.

We were both pretty surprised, but very happy with the turn of events, y'know?

So, she was at the convention, since she works for one of the large US anime companies in Texas. She and her coworkers encouraged me to look into voice acting, since apparently I project my voice well and they thought it was distinct.

So, uh... I'm going to practice acting and voice shit, and may be moving to Texas as soon as January.

It's a big risk, but I think it's worth it. I have a good job. I like Baltimore. I don't know what will happen in Texas. What if things don't work out with my friend? What if I hate where I live?

I'm not worried about work. I can get jobs doing most anything, and I'm not so foolish to think that I'll just be getting voice work right away.

I'm going to be visiting her in October, so maybe I'll get a sense of it then? Meanwhile I'm buying a good mic and stuff to practice and record shit on my own. Never thought this would happen.
