Three did some pretty crazy shit though. Menus are annoying but the depth of MGS3 is insane. Fighting The End can be so freeform jazz musicians would blush. I can appreciate that it was when MGS really brought it's hyuk hyuk humour to the fore front.

You know, what you just wrote there, I pretty much agreed with it 100%.

The little extras in the games, the ghosts, the killing of The End before you get to him was a nice touch, the PS and PS2 machines dotted around the place, the posters for Xenogears, the MGS4/boss/tranq darts/wait a few minutes/holy shit its a Playboy shoot, all those little touches were pretty fucking mint, but thats all they were - little touches.

The games themselves, as in, the things you do to progress the story without stepping outside the lines, were dire.

Possibly the sole exception was the MGS4 Shadow Moses, which not only brought back some fucking epic memories, had you pilot REX, which everyone who played MGS1 wanted to do. But then, it also had the massively irritating and annoying Vamp battle, which nearly had me eating the fucking disc.

Again, this is one of those times where we get all sandy-flapped at each other in a massive way, only for it to appear we're both saying the same things (almost). I'll never get used to this shit...

Why do you guys hate MGS4 so much?

Now I don't feel like playing it :(

Ever see those boring-ass movies that require you to press a button to proceed with the story?

MGS4 = that.

Although you DO get to pilot REX in one part, which is boss.

No, I mean "watch 20 minute movie, walk around a corner, watch 20 minute movie, walk through a door, watch 30 minute movie, shoot an enemy, watch a 60 minute movie, rinse, repeat".

But thats just being extremely critical.

Theres a whole load of really good stuff in there, but by Christ is it a chore.

I fucking loved MGS2. I dunno everyone's Beef with it.

It's like, everyone wanted to bum solid snake, and play as him (which you did breifly) but Kojima was obviously trying to stretch out of him comfort zone, which he did, but keeping things different before they become stale. Raiden? He wasn't all that bad. Just because you guys are butthurt that you couldn't perv over SS for the whole game, Raiden had a little depth (not saying it was all good, whiney minnie-moo-foo-foo) and it was interesting to see someone else take on the same events.

And I noticed from the start that it was very, very much structured like MGS.

Firstly, MGS felt like it was in two halves. Before and after Sniper Wolf. The second did this with the two shells, and allowed you to backtrack.

Using the Nikita launcher because of electrified floors?

Ninja? Yup.

Some of the bosses as Blokey said had a similar structure. No they weren't exactly the same, that'd be shoddy game making.

The first scene (of Raiden) where he's in a scuba suit and sneaks his way to the elevator to the top.

Getting all your shit taken off you.

As I said - and you touched on it yourself - the cast of Raiden's campaign were all unlikeable.
