Sir Clive Sinclair, inventor of the ZX80 and the astounding Sinclair Spectrum 128k, doesn't use a computer cos he can't be bothered.

Respect the man. Without this guy, there would be no home gaming today.

That's quite the bold statement. IMO these computers didn't do anything others didn't..

Also, he seems like a lazy, boring fuck

The ZX80 itself wasn't a remarkable piece of kit. Other computers at the time did what it did, and more in some cases.

What Sinclair did was drive the price through the fucking floor, so it was affordable for the average family.

Consider this. If Boeing started selling £300 planes about 50 years ago, chances are, we'd have flying cars by now.

That was Sinclair's mark on the computing market. Not innovation, not features. But the fact he marketed at the average family, and forced his competitors to do the same.

I'm very doubtful as to how much it really affected home computing considering they never sold too well outside the UK (I think, because I've never even seen one in Sweden). Plus, they were marketed to computer enthusiasts. It might've helped drive down prices a bit earlier than would otherwise had been the case but home computing wasn't exactly huge in 1980.

Plus, the C64 did tons better than the sinclairs, even at many times more the price ($595 in 1982).
