Tetris 2 is and always will be the king of puzzle games regardless of what Tetris Classic and Dr. Mario enthusiasts will tell you. As I sit here playing this masterpiece of a game I can't help but laugh at anyone who doesn't understand how amazing it is. To my knowledge it was the first puzzle game to have a story and the only one to do it well. The story is that you are the leader of a bomb disarming team sent to disarm terrorist bombs. The nameless hero has to struggle with his personal demons in the game and at the same time try to beat the level. It's amazingly relevant to the times we live in. Many parts of the story have been lifted from Wrecking Crew on the NES but this shouldn't be surprising, I mean what game hasn't? Many babies have criticized the game for having disconnected colored tetrominoes instead of adjacent type tetrominoes. The same babies have also shown disdain for the direction the blocks spin (it was changed to counter clockwise). What these babies fail to understand is Tetris 2 was making bold and imaginative changes. Like the changes from Zelda 1 to Zelda 2. Long story short Tetris 2 is stuck in my gamboy and I can't get it out. |
