3 of some of my favorite games are from the ps2. Okami, Shadow of the Colossus, and Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.

Just thought Id point that out.

I'd go as far to say that most if not all of the greatest games ever made hit the PS2.

I still love mine, and play it regular.

I never owned a PS2 so I decided when I got a PS3 that I'd get the 60gb version. So far I've played more PS2 games on it than PS3 games.

God of War rocks my world.

God Of War 2 is just as good, if not better, than the first. And I simply cannot wait for the third.

I've completed 1 and 2 and I've got Chains of Olympus on the PSP, though not completed it yet.

The concept of God of War 3 sends me all tingly.

Quoted for truth. I loved the SNES. For me, the PS2 MAY have been the greatest console IF it didn't have so many hardware problems (mostly the disk drive). From a game perspective, it was very strong, no doubt.

I love the PS2. Not mine, ATM, since it's kinda broken. I can play it, but joggle it slightly and it cuts out on me. And though I don't really agree that the best games came out on this console, I think a lot of great games did appear on the PS2. Jak and Daxter, anyone?

I got mine really late in the game. Bought it mostly for GH2, which was brilliant, but all in all, I didn't like the console all that much. I understand the appeal with it, but to me, most of the much-touted games weren't all that special... The graphics are lousy, the controller is awful. The games make the console, but this is still one of the weaker ones for me.

The SNES/PS2 competition is way too fucking close to call. One thing in the SNES' favor is that good 2D games age better than good 3D games. No one can go back and complain about how A Link to the Past or Mega Man X look and feel, but will we be able to say that about games like God of War 2 in fifteen years' time?

...OK, bad example.

If that's the case, then the following consoles also fail....

SNES (for not being able to play NES games)
Nintendo Sixty FOOOOOOUUUUUURRRRRR (for not being able to play SNES games)
DS (for not being able to play original GB games)
Saturn (for not being able to play MegaCD games)
Dreamcast (for not being able to play Saturn games)

I didn't include the MegaDrive/Genesis, because Master System games could be played on it, albeit with the use of an adapter.

Backwards compatibility is NOT an industry standard, but an optional extra.

DS does not fail, because it can play GBA games. The others fail though =)

Speaking of the original GB, Link's Awakening and The Six Golden Coins had better be adapted for some download service later on.

Hey, Nintendo interns! Want a really, really easy WiiWare idea?
