After so many years of owning PS1 games, through wear and usage most of my games are now unplayable. Because Sony still can't pull their finger out and actually get some good PS1 Classics beside Crash Bandicoot on the PSN Store I'm forced to use an emulator if I ever want to play my favourites again because original brand new copies are rare and expensive and pre-owned ones are probably just as in bad shape as my own. I know asking for ROMs on here is illegal but can some one just point me to a good free emulator for PC so I can just relive my childhood?

Asking for ROMs is fine and dandy. But posting them up on the forums is wrist-slappingly naughty. But no-one can see private messages, can they?

I remember people used to be all over Bleem at one point, but I think that required the original discs.

If anyone can find a good emulator, then please by all means post it up, but leave the ROMs to PMs please. That way, everybody wins.

Also, completely agree with the lack of decent games on the PSN Store. Sure, I own pretty much all the best PS1 games as originals, but still....

My only working PS1 game now is MGS, last time I played it was just before MGS4 release as a way to hype myself up for the climax of the story (Sadly Kojima was a wimp and didn't kill Snake). But alright thanks anyway Blokeh.

the one i use is is epsxe which you can get from http://www.epsxe.com/download.php but you only legally use if you still own a ps1

I've tried it and it's very unclear on how you're supposed to run it. Readme file is screwed up as it's not formatted properly and I can't even tell if you need to use the original CD or not.

you can use the original cd's if you have them or can ILLEGALLY download the roms

I am aware of ROM's being illegal, I just can't get it too work. There's no explanation.

Dragon, dude, not only check out rule number 1, but also read my first post in this thread....

Emulators are fine, but ROMs are illegal. But we're not looking for the ROMs, just a decent emulator that works and is easy to use.

You need the PS1 system ROM before you can use it I think. Either rip it yourself of google it.

I use PSXeven myself. What I usually did was find the ISO's online for games that I didn't own. For the things that I did own, I ripped the ISO's off of my games and/or made a copy of it and played it off of the emulator.

I used alcohol 120% to make the ISOs http://www.alcohol-soft.com/

Free trial yes, but there are always ways around the interwebz
