I bought a PS3 recently and started playing LBP, Heavenly Sword, Street Fighter 4 and Warhawk. All great games.

Now, that's all well and good but I was listening to Final Fantast, Piano Collections while doing housework, and noticed that I needed to play FF9 again (and this time finish it off).

So I have all these great games in my house, and I'm more excited about a game that I've had for years. Now that, my friends, is timelessness. Final Fantasy 9. Like Aeromsith and Megadeth, Final Fantasy 9 is timeless.

In case you are confused, here are some things that are, not so timless...

Final Fantasy 7 (Yes it's great, but if I play that game one more time...grrrr).
Metallica (nothing to do with quality, just how boring they get)
Guns N' Roses (I love My Michelle, but it's certainly no "One Way Street").
Iron Maiden's 3D album covers (they were'nt to know that technology would advance so quickly)
The Mullett (good for retro, no good for today)
Nokia 3210 (I preferred the 3310 myself).

You see?

So what games were timeless for you? I still love Spiderman: Maximum Carnage (the game not the comic...but the comic series was awsome).....but I wish it was 2 players. Seperation Anxiety wasn't the same.

Dude, seriously, FF9 does nothing but increase in awesomeness from where you are right now. I could play that game over and over without ever getting bored.

Now, here's some of my favourite, timeless games....

StreetFighter II: The World Warriors
I'm talking 8 selectable characters, 4 non-selectable bosses, and the best sound effects in the entire series. Seriously, go play SFIII or SFAlpha and perform a heavy kick. Now go back to SFII and do it. SFII's sounds are FAR superior to anything that followed.

Final Fantasy 4
Best game in the series. Thats all.

For me its still Resident Evil and Windwaker may make it in there along with Alpha Centuri.
If you have two players, Mario Kart (SNES), Rage Racer, NHL (Megadrive) would still all drag me back in.

I nominate Cave Story. It's still "new" but I forsee myself coming back to this game again and again in the future. Seriously considering buying the Wii version just so I can play with a controller AND pay some money towards the developer who made it (and distributed it) for free.

I also have very fond memories of Super Mario World and Symphony of the Night as games that I played and replayed over the years. I have bought SOTN three times now, four if you count the port that came with the other Castlevania PSP game.

Deus Ex. I've completed that game so many times and it never gets old. It's one of my favourite games and when the day finally comes when I can't play it on my PC any more I will cry.

Not yet, but I've beaten it on SNES, GBA and PS1, several times over.

Fucking typical Blokey answer. If he hasn't done it one way, he's done it just about every other possible way, including that time he did it whilst fisting your mum's ass!!!

Go on fella!

Well I do agree that Goldeneye was a superb game. But I did go back to it, no too long ago. I could cope with the graphics, but it seemed just too slow and bulky to be enjoyed. I mean this, for me, is because I've been subjected to so many newer console shooters that have honed their engines and graphics over the years.
