Why is there not a thread for this?!

Absolutely incredible film. Probably one of the best action films I've seen in years.

And it's feminist as fuck and that's rad.

Who wants to watch two hours of false rape accusations and people claiming they have PTSD because a boy on the internet said they smelled?

#modernfeminismisnotfeminism
#modernfeminismisafuckingjoke
#thefirstfeministswouldbeturningintheirgraves
#ohyesiwentthere

Seriously though, I hear it's a kickass movie, and do want to see.

Yeah I mean if you wanna miss out on legitimately one of the most visually jaw dropping and fucking metal as shit films in years (there is literally a guy that spends the whole film playing a double necked guitar with a flamethrower on the end for the whole film as part of the bad guys war band and his riffs become part of the soundtrack, it's fucking ace) because it depicts a group of women without objectifying them in any unnecessary way and establishing them as individual people and characters then go ahead.

Judging feminism by tumblr is like me judging your desire to own guns by the people that use them to shoot up schools. Unrepresentative.

Well that's what feminism has evolved into. Thankfully with that crazy lady Bahar Mustafa pointing out that shes the result of Tumblr Feminists having power and actual feminists retaking the reigns it could be over soon.

Still want to see it. Also because Max is more like Eddie from Brutal Legend in these films which is why the ladys the star.

Also can we agree that the first Mad Max is boring as fuck?

First film is good for it's era and budget. I'll give it that. But it does t stand up anymore, especially after high budget sequels.

Mad Max 2 is probably the best of the three. A solid watch.

The third starts out to be fantastic, it has all the hallmarks. Then you have the second half with those stupid fucking kids harking on about "tomorrororrowland". And it turns into a fucking joke.

Looking forward to seeing this new, improved, feminist remake though!!!!

This movie so far is my favorite of 2015.

The shit the movie threw out at you was insane. You just keep asking yourself "What else are they going to do?"

Holy fuck; it was superb. It feels refreshing to be able to see a movie and have no expectations at all and be blown away.

HERE BE SECRETS>world ruled by men
>women kept as breeders for more slaves
>one woman liberates a few of them
>helped by a one-man army who volunteers
>woman drives, man more or less saves them all repeatedly
>joined by rebel women survivors
>they all get killed by the men
>man saves all the women
>man voluntarily walks away and allows woman to rule

Tell me again how this movie is feminist, as it looked to me like a bunch of men basically slaughtering - or protecting - people weaker than them.

Outstanding film, though. Day one purchase.

Max got his ass kicked by Furiosa

The whole deal with it being a feminist film is that the movie itself knows how misogynistic and patriarchal it is. However, we are introduced to a character whose very mission is to LIBERATE these women and provide a better future for them. She was the one combating domination making her a strong feminist character.

HERE BE SECRETSRemember around the beginning when Immortan Joe asked where the girls were taken? The old lady made it a point to say that they are not "things" and will not be taken advantage of.

For a good portion of the film, it was Max who needed saving because he was strapped to a car with a metal mask on his face. He NEEDED Furiosa. She was pretty much the driving force of that movie; Max barely had anything to say lol. If anything, Max shows up as a passenger along for the ride. It isn't until muuuuuuch later in the movie that he decides to not just leave the group and help them.

The sniper scene was particularly enjoyable because Max kept fucking it up. Furiosa stepped up and used Max's shoulder as a rifle stand.

Max suggested that they should go back to the Citadel after not finding the "Green Place" but Furiosa was the one that DECIDED to do it.

Anyway, it is a feminist movie in the traditional sense and not that Tumblr shit you be hearing about. The woman is on equal terms with the man making it feminist. IMO of course. Which is totally find.

The Alien franchise is a feminist film too IMO. I saw a lot of Ripley in Furiosa's character development.

Yes you need to watch Fury Road.
Yes it is feminist, and it is wonderful for it.
I could go on and on about everything I loved about the movie and its characters, and how it's paced and how little is said but so much detail is still given, about how you are shown, not told, about the world and it makes the story and plot all the more engaging and powerful, but there's no need whatsoever.

Go see the goddamn film.

I have recently rewatched the previous three mad-max films. Fury Road beats EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM COMBINED outright. It's better than all three, including 2.
