What else did you expect the cop to do? Yes, it was a horrific thing to witness, but fuck me, if I have a gun and a Rottweiler lunges at me, I'm shooting that bitch.

INB4 "its not the dog, but the owners". Yeah, I know. But would YOU be willing to bank on the owners being responsible dog owners as that thing lunges at you? I didn't think so.

The guy knew that there was a whole load of cameras pointed his way, and knew full well that, should he go to court for some bullshit claim, it would be thrown out instantly due to all the evidence around him. It's the in-thing, recording police stuff. Getting too close was this guys problem. Not to mention being a dick about it. Just a shame his dog had to.suffer because of it.

Nothing wrong with filming the police, it's a right people have and if it keeps police accountable for their actions then good, I don't trust them.

That's pretty much bob-on. In fact, I believe some government (either US or UK) overturned a request to make it illegal for the public to film the police, and rightly so.

But then again, getting too close to a crime scene is against the law, and while there wasn't any tape up, the cops themselves were trying to hold a perimeter.

But seriously, what kind of idiot gets THAT close to a crime scene where there's a fucking SWAT team with all guns drawn?

Haven't watched the video, so can't really comment, but is it possible that he's just zoomed in and that makes the person filming seem closer than they actually are?

Have not watched. Suspect Blokey is right about not wanting to take the risk with a dog clearly attacking, but many questions should be asked.
There was another thing like this on Cops.
Only worse, as some fluffy family dog… lets say a lab though it may have been a little larger… is left in a car with an open door while a couple of people are pulled out of a car that the police incorrectly believe to be stolen (before the end of this video they find this out and apologise).
About 5 cops have their guns on the people and have them up against the car. After a few seconds dog comes out, tail wagging, does a large circle and bounces towards one of the cops like its a game.
Shotgun to the face.
Owner breaks down, cop finds out they were wrong about the car, says it was his task to control it (he had been pulled from the car, door open and had guns on him), and offer him a bin bag for it. Understandably pissed guy argues and is told to 'calm down sir'.

The dog got close, but didn't actually attack. The cops should have just maced it.
