I come back from class to see this. Holy crap! My heart goes out to the families of the victims.

I dont want to come across like a dick, but this oklahoma, the tornado capital of all of north america. They should know better than to live in anything other than convex steel disc-shaped buildings.

Honestly, they're both smack-dab in Tornado Alley. It really doesn't matter.

Sad story, bro.

Wow, thats pretty harsh... bad times indeed. I can only hope that the death toll doesn't increase any more than it has.

it seems the death toll is changing. the article says 9 kids died out of 24 confirmed. I'll wait till later in the week to see what the final count is. Still, what a sad time in Oklahoma.

Oh shit, failed hard.

But being the gentlemen that I am, I will keep this here for everyone to see how bad I was.

On topic:

There is a CNN story about teachers doing their best to save children in a school

http://www.cnn.com/2013/05/21/us/oklaho ... ?hpt=hp_t1

Quote:

First responders and volunteers rushed to the scene to begin the treacherous work of searching for survivors.
"We had to pull a car off a teacher and she had three little kids underneath her," one first responder, in tears, told KFOR. "Good job, teach."

"I was on top of six kids," one sixth grade teacher said, working her way across the rubble. "I was lying on top. All of mine are OK."

Teachers helped tear through several feet of rubble to rescue sobbing students, some of them injured. Rescue teams successfully pulled several kids from the leveled school. But with each passing hour, the hope began to fade.

Seriously though, this shit is tragic :( I am going through the whole teaching credentialing program right now so this this saddens me greatly. Those teachers are heroes.

I don't want to come across like a dick either, but why is it that deaths of children get emphasized so fucking much? "Hey all these people died, but let's focus on some kids and make it seem like the others don't matter as much, even though they're someone's children too."

Because it is kids and kids are innocent. I was angry when they came after gun owners when adam lanza shot up sandy hook. If it was adults they would have never came down so hard on gun rights but because it was kids it was the media blew it up to be the worst thing to happen since 9/11. You can't punish all of us because of one persons mental illness. I should start a gun debate thread.
