I refuse to buy a 3DS when I have a Vita. I'll be one of these people with more consoles than games.

Plus Pokemon is full of cheating minnie-moo-foo-foos that have used action replay cards to obtain Pokemon. Then when you've spent 4 hours to get a Legendary Pokemon in a fucking premium ball, and your mate has a Mew, "Oh I just traded it for a Ratata on the online trading platform", then what's the fucking point of even playing, if your collection is cheapened by these fuckers with no attention span who can't be arsed playing the game as intended?

All my effort is absolutely worthless when others get to their destination the cheap way.

Fuck Pokemon, fuck it. Until Nintendo completely reboot Pokemon with a way to regulate cheats, then I want no fucking part of it. I'd happily sacrifice all of my Pokemon (even Bluebunny :cry: ) for a chance of the knowledge that my collection actually means something.

On a serious note, can I ask what's new this time around? As a typical non-Pokemon player, as far as I can see this is just "same game, new paint job", but obviously that isn't the case.

I am aware that the creatures themselves change either every iteration or every "generation" - will there ever be a game where, like, every single pokemon ever, or is that some kind of pipe dream?

It's more 3D, apparently, and has a few new ones I believe. Also has some mega-evolution things for certain Pokemon.

I don't think there'll ever be one with every single Pokemon, simply because you wouldn't need another game, or to trade with friends, to get them all. With so many variations, it's more of a challenge to get them all, from every different world.

I hear folk talking of "shinies", so you could have it so that you could collect every single one, but in order to get a shiny you had to beat, or more realistic, play online against, that specific pokemon to unlock the shiny version in your game.

IE: You want a shiny Pikachu, you have to play online against someone who has a regular Pikachu, which will then throw a message up saying "you now have a 20% chance of finding a shiny Pikachu in your game". This would at least encourage online play I guess.

Yeah they're super hard to get, those shinies.

I've not been playing for a few years, Jason has all my Pokemon games and is looking after them. But I don't think there was ever an issue with online play. Competition was good, I had a few battles myself. It can get seriously competitive though and time consuming. Plus there's a focus on multiplayer locally, as myself and Jay would do the battle tower together, each on a DS at my place with some beers. It was sweet.

Unlocking shinies, or some kind of varified pokemon, online is a good idea. The problem is it would have to remain online for it to be regulated. It's not like the 360/PS3 where they strictly regulate cheating and ban your ass because of it (*cough, cough*, Microsoft), one can simply use AR on a DS and transfer it to the 3DS.

I don't think 3DS AR cards are allowed, and therefore not manufactured much, so I reckon if they could reboot the game (people would be pissed though) on this console, there'd be less cheating going on.

I'm heavily considering it. Though I've bought a lot this past week, including another 3DS game (MonHun3 was half off on the eshop), so I want to slow down on spending for now. Maybe I'll pick it up after a paycheck or two, or I might just wait until my birthday. It's less than a month away, so I can deal.

I'm still pretty hype for this game though, despite how the 3D can't be used with the overworld... Seriously, I'm kinda disappointed with that. I did always want to see what the 3DS could do if they pushed power toward scale and graphics (as opposed to the 3D effect), but that came out of NOWHERE.

Looks really slick, seems to be a nice step forward.

Pokemon Black/White didn't seem to do much, I would say that this is the proper sequel to Diamond/Pearl.
