Yea, my Gamestop only had enough for the people who pre-ordered so I was out of luck.

I can wait though, my paycheck comes in on Friday.

Always wanted to get a Fire Emblem but I suck so badly at SRPGs :( Awakening sounds like it has an easy mode for scrubs like me though, so I think I'll get it eventually.

Casual is still hard, it just removes permadeath, which is a Godsend.

I feel that half the joy of the game is permadeath. The constant fear of losing someone makes everything so much better. As is the acceptance that you can't keep restarting it and whoever you just lost is indeed gone forever.

Oh, hell no. I restart every time I lose someone. That's half my game time right there. Thank God we finally get an option to go without permadeath.

Iroically? Most people I saw that complained about casual mode do this. It's like "we're doing the same thing, yet it's faster."

It's a cool feature, but I think even Nintendo realises it's raising the barrier of entry. I can understand why fans would be apprehensive...hell, I was apprehensive about driving lines in racing games. It takes away some of the purity of the game. And there's the arguement of making the game easier versus forcing someone to learn the game. Nintendo's answer to making the game more accessible is equally loaded as the question.

It's like Dark Souls with an Easy Mode where if you die, you just Continue without penalty.
Or a Virtua/Street Fighter where you can just tap a button to do lengthy combos, and bind your finishers to a shoulder button.
It's just dumb handholdy shit in a game series known for its complexity. Stuff like the Super Guide in NSMB/DKCR can be justified, because as a platform game, it doesn't necessarily make it any easier, but when you take away what makes a game series unique just to make it accessible to people who aren't willing to try to get better, it's really obnoxious to fans of the series, even if it's optional.
