Words can't describe how absolutely livid I am toward The Pokemon Company. I mean... What the ACTUAL fuck were they thinking when creating this? Seriously.

A brand new set of Pokemon games... Acting as half-assed sequels to the last games we got a few years ago... For an outdated system.

The DS does have a bigger player base than the 3DS, as of now, but that's not saying that the 3DS doesn't already have a large player base already. The fact that this is actually happening seriously bugs me...

Nah, this is slightly different (note: slightly). While a single, third addition to the older games would normally fix/add a few things in a combo of the older games (Platinum especially. Not gonna lie, that was actually really fucking good), they've just made direct sequels to Black and White. It's not a 'Crystal' to our 'Gold/Silver' versions, it's an entirely new game... Without the new generation of Pokemon to enjoy.


While the above is definitely an odd change of pace, it's not my biggest issue here. It's the fact that it's on the original DS. That would almost be like Nintendo releasing a new Mario game on the Wii... In 2014. The Wii U (or whatever its name change will be) will have been out for a few years already, and not taking advantage of the newer hardware just seems like a crazy decision. There's also the fact that in both announcements we can see 'You can also play this game in 2D on your 3DS!'... That's kinda like a slap in the face, considering they gave away that 3D Pokedex thing last E3. Seriously. I can literally bathe in all the lost potential for a brand new 3DS Pokemon game right now.

That's not to say that they still can't make it, but they would've been spending their time better by having everyone work on that, imo.

They'll just be saving time by re-using the old games chipsets and just changing the odd thing here and there. It'll be same locations, same people, same everything, except it'll only be ever so slightly changed.

And folk will still lap it up...

I thought this at first but, you never know what they're doing in the Background.

It's like Assassin's Creed III. It's out in 7 months. It's been in developments for 3 years already but they released Brotherhood and Revelations in between, which were new stories but kinda kept the very same engine and game mechanics.

Ninty might simply be making the new Pokemon in the background, giving us this is as a little something to put us on in the mean time. In fact I'd be surprised if they weren't...

Selling it for the 3DS would be the most ass-backward <bleh> idea Game Freak would ever make as a business. The 3DS is simply too young for a multi-million seller like Pokémon to even become applicable.

In addition, this follows the whole 'generational' pattern that Game Freak likes to maintain with the core games. So far we've had a pair of games released for a specific handheld (Game Boy, then Game Boy Color, then GBA, then DS, now 'DSi-enhanced'), with a third released a few years later.

This fits in with that logic, and allows TPC to advertise it as a 'DSi-enhanced' game, which can act as a plug for the 3DS. Much smarter move, people are still going to lap it all up, and will lead to a much better entryway for the next games, which will most likely be on the 3DS.

You don't think this would be a system-seller for the 3DS? I could think of a number of people I know that would buy a 3DS just for a new Pokemon game.

A Pokemon game exclusive for 3DS along with Animal Crossing and I'd buy one straight away.

I wish they'd give us more info, or even a release date, for it, but I'll wait patiently. It looks to be the only huge improvement that the series has seen so far... Well, to be fair, the DS version saw great change, but I don't think that stacks up to how much the 3Ds is bringing along.

Also, I feel the same way about WEEGEE'S MANSION. I was told Q1 2012. Where's my mansion, fully equipped with a Luigi, Nintendo? I was promised a mansion.

Luigi's Mansion 2 gets all of my monies, which isn't much, but it's the thought that counts.

I hate myself each and every time I say this but I wish there was an Animal Crossing game where you played one of the adorable critter type characters, and could make how you looked yourself, as opposed to the derptastic human characters.
