The most addictive Mercs yet.
The design is basically 5 "levels" and an unlockable "EX" level.
The first 3 levels contain 3-5 "missions" which are basic tutorials on how to play The Mercenaries. If you played them on RE4 or 5 then you already know what you're doing and the tutorials serve as a block to actually playing the game.
Levels 4 and 5 contain around 6 "missions"; hereby called maps. Each map is one of the maps from RE4 or 5's Mercs. The Village and Castle being most recognisable from 4 and the rest being mostly RE5 maps. The enemies are mixed in each map; you can have ganados and monks from RE4 in any of the levels, and sub-bosses appear too; the claws, chainsaws, super chainsaws, big black/red manjini, etc. appear at random too.
Nearly all of the maps are simply "get the highest score/kill all 150 enemies".
This is not a story game. IF you thought this, you should probably have been snuffed in your mothers' womb but its too late now..a little bit of common fucking sense wouldn't go a miss though.
8 characters, and an alternate costume for each character, are playable. Each with a different weapon load out. Each with unique melee attacks and varying attributes.
The 3D is particularly effective, though I have not played in the FPS view at all.
The ability to move and shoot serves as a very handy addition where you may move and reload to avoid attack and to even realign oneself to shoot an enemy easier.
The online is stable and unlocks are available in way of "perks" as it were, that improve certain aspects whether it be the time you have to string a combo of kills, improved health restoration, stronger melee, better weapon attributes, etc.
There's plenty to play and once all 5 "levels" are finished you have access to the EX levels. Alternate versions to the previous 8 maps. Some set at night instead of day, visa versa, and with different enemies and soundtrack. Difficulty seems ramped up and the EX maps are very fun and serve to display all available maps in the game.
Good shit. If you expected more, I really don't know what to tell you other than you're a fool and you know they announced an actual Resi game for the 3DS anyway...just wait and quit bitching about this game..because it's fun and addictive.
Shoot leg, run upto, melee, run upto, melee, get +5 seconds. String major kills, blow your load all over sub boss, string major kills, catch all 150 of them, get million point score. Rinse, repeat.
