Friend: I was going to give you NSMB but thought you could work your way through this one first.
Me: well, having already 120 star'd this game I will fucking blitz through it and come at you immediately for NSMB.

*turns on SM64*
Me: wait, why the fuck am I Yoshi?
Me: um, wait how do I grab?
Me: how do I beat King Bob-omb?
Friend 1 + 2: you gotta throw bombs back at him
Me: oh fuck this

*turns off game*

but seriously...what have they done to my SM64? Did they make it better or did they piss gimmicks all over it? I just want to know. I'm feeling very anti-DS 64 right now..
It's kinda cool that it's taken what I thought I knew and shit in my brain.. but I don't know if I like it. Also WTF is up with a run button? Should always be running.

Only good thing about SM64DS was the minigames, moreso the "slide the shell into all the other shells" one.

I thought SM64DS was fun as hell. Try taking the nostalgia goggles off and playing it, I never played the original(inb4stoppedreadinghere, I never owned an Nintendo Sixty FOOOOOOUUUUUURRRRRR. >:[ ) so I had no way of comparing, but I thought it was really fun.

Walking is good for sharp corners/narrow ledges, etc. You can find a Mario hat in the first level on an enemy, you can wear it to turn into him, etc.

Video games are meant to be fun, if you're too busy comparing it to the original to have fun with it, you're doing it wrong. >:V

To be fair to Terra, had he played the original, he'd understand.

For me, it wasn't so much the game itself, but the controls... oh the controls...

Imagine playing Super StreetFighter IV with a steering wheel.

It was THAT bad.

For me, anyways.

Don't know what you fools talkin 'bout.

I found nothing wrong with the controls. I played both version to death. You guys just suck.

I thought the controls were pretty decent.

I just had something explained to me about breaking steel blocks with another character?

Are there a bunch of new stars to get now? IS there really any reward for it?

I got burnt before and now that I get to play as Yoshi I couldn't give a fuck less. Sorry but that's just the way it is

d-d-dee d-d-dee

things will never be the same.

edit: it's hard to take off nostalgia goggles when the game is called Super Mario 64 DS.

I can't begrudge extra content mind. I just felt like it wasn't necessary.

Thing is, you kinda answered yourself there.

Nintendo only ever add content/change games that were perfect as-is, and only re-release, with no changes, games that needed change.

Now, if they did it the other way around... ;)

It was awesome =D The improved graphics make all the difference imo. Plus some extra stars and shit, it's just awesome. The controls are probably not as good as the original but they work fine.

The only thing wrong with the controls in this game had to be the lack of joystick.
That being said, camera controls worked loads better than they did in the original game. Way better.

I really don't see what some of you think is horribly wrong with the game.

Also, I'm pretty sure you don't know how to enjoy a game. You started out as Yoshi, and all you did was complain about how it wasn't Mario, and then started complaining about grabbing things...

Also, I welcome the new levels and bosses, as well as the twists they threw into a few other fights.
Seriously.... What's the problem with throwing bombs back at a boss? I fail to see the problem here.

The analog nub makes things feel more natural. I remember trying to play SM64DS with a stylus once and then was turned off trying to play it.

Still don't like the whole being Yoshi thing.
