Since I have gotten a Wii U and Smash U I have gotten sucked into the whole Amiibo craze. I have 5 Amiibos at the moment. Mega Man, Mario, Luigi, Link and Toon Link. I am currently looking for Shulk and Fox and I will totally be getting Ness when he comes out in the next wave. What Amiibos do you guys have? What are some you are looking for/ looking to get in the future?

I have 12 now.

Mario
Luigi
Yoshi
Megaman
Shulk
Shiek
T. Link
Sonic
Samus
Kirby
Pikachu
Bowser

Want Ness for obvious reasons. Villager whom I garuntee will be reprinted for Animal Crossing for Wii U. And all the FE ones for Codename STEAM.

All of these I just walked into a store and bought. Excluding Shulk and MM. Whom I preordered.

My collection sits at 7, for the time being.

Link
Little Mac
Samus
Captain Falcon
Sheik
Toon Link
Megaman (which Joey actually picked up for me while I was stuck at work)

I didn't even want amiibo to begin with, I was only really interested in scooping up the Cap.
Link had the Hyrule Warriors spinner attached to him, so I picked him up, then had more fun than I expected training him in Smash Bros. I also liked having the figure, which was a game I didn't think I'd get myself into.

7 figures later, and I still plan on getting Pac Man when he comes out, and possibly the rumored Splatoon amiibo. This is an awful thing, especially the fights with scalpers to get the ones you want. That being said, it's a fantastic conversation piece. I can't tell you how many times, both in and outside of work, I've had chats with random people about these. They're a crazy hit.

Scalping is probably gonna stop soon since the dock strike just ended.

Also want Mac and Cap.

Only if they're not planning on smashing it with a hammer.

What exactly about it bugs you? The part with the content tied to them, or the insanity with scalpers?

I think that the content tied to them hasn't been all that intrusive, at least so far.
The most offensive thing has to be Hyrule Warriors, and it's just one single weapon, of which Link has the most in the game anyway. On top of that, they've released tons of free DLC on top of it, so I feel like that evens out the blow a little bit.

If we're talking about scalpers, then I've got nothing to say. It's absolute garbage all around. :p
Also, I got Pac Man pre-ordered. That's all I wanted from this wave. Now I can have Sonic, Megaman, Pac, and Mario lined up in a row. It's wonderful.

It's content locked behind a useless plastic toy.

So instead of paying a small fee for the small DLC, you have to pay a larger fee if you want it.

I can't believe this shit took off. It's so manipulative.

Thing is, the Amiibo work across video games so you end up unlocking multiple things with the same toy.

Marth Amiibo for example, works in Smash Bros and Code Name S.T.E.A.M. The Link Amiibo works in Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Hyrule Warriors and One Piece Super Grand Battle (which unfortunately has no NA release date).

IF you happen to be one of the lucky few to get the $12 toy, then those $12 will take you very far.

It is also worth pointing out that Nintendo memorabilia is stupidly high in-demand. It makes sense that these are selling so well; what doesn't make sense is Nintendo's insistence on not making more of sold out Amiibos.

Ninty is starting to be smart about Amiibo exclusive content. In Xenoblade 3D, you can get figurines/music tracks if you spend In game tokens you get from playing the game, play coins or tapping the Shulk Amiibo.
