And before you think thats not really that much of a problem, consider that only one retailer anywhere is selling them separately at the moment, and consider that if you're not in that region and your gamepad breaks you're a)fucked, and b)unable to import one because it'll be locked.

And even if they sold them in different regions, for some, it would be cheaper to import them, but no, not allowed.

Region locking shit to block importing is pretty standard now (they even region-lock some Blu-Rays and stuff now I hear).

It's simply so you can't get it cheaper than in your home country.

But controllers?

And controllers that are only sold in one outlet in the whole world?

Nintendo provides replacements if your shit breaks, they just dont offer extras
At least not yet.. Nintendo has excellent customer service, they repaired my shit even when it was out of warrenty.
