Still won't believe anything until I actually see something other than a tech demo for Zelda.

Likewise, just providing a counterpoint.

It will be great, and have the edge for… two years. Then it will fall to the prices of the new consoles.

All the devs are eager to use it, more RAM a better CPU.

The problem in fact will be shoddy ports of PS3 and 360 games holding it back in that year and only Nintendo producing content that really leverages it.

I can sympathize with that, but like I sad in the other thread, I'll trust sources that speak openly and allow themselves to be named before I trust someone that has to speak on condition of anonymity for fear of any consequences that will result if he's talking a lot of bullshit. I mean, for all we know, those anonymous sources are the clerical staff; technically, they work for the developer, but they don't know a damn thing about what they're talking about.

I still have a feeling it will get Dreamcasted. Be slightly better because of the early launch then fades away carried by the same shit that plauged the Wii. I think Nintendo's philosphy works well in the poetable realm but not so much at home. I still don't care though, cause Nintendo games :D

If it's as powerful as the say then Nintendo is on the right track, but if they really want to succeed they need to step out of their mario/zelda/metroid comfort zone and really pump out some new games. Each generation they should release a masterpiece from each of their big series that really defines the console (they did it right with skyward sword). The rest of the games should be new.

They can only get so far releasing the same games over and over. They need to be putting out new first party exclusives constantly and those games need to appeal to a wide range of people. When I say that I don't mean E-rated games that appeal to a wide age range, I mean a wide range of games of different types and ratings targeting many different groups. There's nothing wrong with those very widely targeted family-friendly games, but you need to give gamers other options.

I would gladly trade mario party for a brand new series. Hell, I would even trade Mario Kart or Smash Bros for a new series. The way I see it, the time where I had the peak amount of fun with those games has passed. Give me something new that will keep me up till 3am with sweaty controller hands and bloodshot eyes. I haven't played a game like that on a Nintendo console since the early Gamecube days.

I hope you're not expecting M-rated games out of Nintendo, 'cause that'll never happen. I do agree that Nintendo needs to diversify, though. Miyamoto coming up with a new franchise each generation is great (most of the time), but that alone won't cut it as time goes on.

The past generation has seemed like Nintendo taking different concepts in putting them in established franchises. Skyward Sword is a good example of this with its new structure, motion driven gameplay mechanics and the like. The problem with new franchises is that for a company like Nintendo, it's a hard sell. Nintendo is so established that you won't see an Uncharted or Gears or Viva Pinata. Even games that are new and have been marketed to hell, like Pikmin or Luigi's Mansion have fallen way side. The mindset isn't there. Say for example Bioware. People associate Bioware with good RPGs, it's how they can go from Mass Effect to Dragon Age. Nintendo is Mario/Zelda, not "amazing games".
