Combat is actually kind of terrifying, I love it! I get my ass beat to within an inch of my life, but it's still nuanced, analytical...and exciting!

I'm glad I sped like a fart-can ricer to get the game in time :D

20 hours in, and I am absolutely dazzled at this point. There have been plenty of times where I just sorta stop and admire just how great the game LOOKS, let alone actually PLAYS. There's also been one absolutely huge HOLY SHIT WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK THIS IS HOOMEGAD moment for me. Depending on what Zelda games you've played in the past, you'll know what I'm referring to... Though just in case you happened to miss it...

HERE BE SECRETSThe boss of the Lanaryu Mine dungeon pretty much holds the world's best cameo by revealing that huge-ass hub track room from Spirit Tracks. My jaw literally dropped, and I hung around in the room a bit inspecting it (and being absolutely stupefied).

Okami's long been my favorite game, and there's actually a few queues that this game takes from that one. Things such as...

HERE BE SECRETSThe gratitude system, known as praise in the Okami universe, and that little 'this person's got something to say' icon... It isn't the same icon, but it's the same general idea.

That being said, Skyward Sword does these things flawlessly, and I think the game itself outshines Okami in a variety of different ways... Though the comedy in Okami is arguably better, as well as more apparent. Skyward Sword's gotten be to laugh a few times, but only a few so far. That being said, that's no big deal at all.

I think the thing I like best so far is how I'm drawn into the game's atmosphere. Every time your name shows up, it's in bold text, or in red. It makes it feel like my name was just written in naturally instead of being treated like an item or something, and the controls really feel like I'm accomplishing something substantial. The characters are also really fleshed out, and I don't really feel as though any of them are just pushed aside for no reason.

There's also the combat. Every encounter is something to think about. One thing that kinda bothered me in Twilight Princess (there's a fair few things that bothered me about that game, actually, but I digress... I do love it though) is how you can just run past an enemy, with one simple slash, and move on. It makes the grunt enemies feel like no real threat. In this game, every enemy poses somewhat of a threat. They can block your attacks rather well, and some counter attack quickly if you keep bangin' away on their defenses. You really have to pay attention and aim your hits right, rather than mash a button till something dies. There's also the sense of accomplishment when you've found an enemy's weakness. Some enemies really make you want to trash their shit (here's looking at you electric snails, fuck ALL of your shit), and picking em eff with finesse and consistency is pretty neat. Needless to say, there's no 'easy' way to kill every enemy ever, but there's usually some quicker ways to do away with your adversaries.

Seriously. If you sold your Wii, you've made a terrible mistake. This game is well worth waiting for, and Nintendo's more than outdone themselves this time. This is the first time in quite a while where I've had to force myself to put down a game, and it's 4am :I. I keep wanting to push forward, just to see what's waiting through that next door, or what kinds of interesting creatures I'll meet next (there's quite a few of em this time around). This game more than deserves the critical reception it's been getting, and I highly recommend it. Seriously, I think my $75 would've been well spent without the golden remote or anything. The game's fucking fantastic.

Sounds awesome. Appreciate that you used the spoiler tags in your post, as I'm avoiding those. I won't be getting this game until christmas. Money is tight, and I saw it as a good item to ask someone for.

Trust me, you'll enjoy it. Just don't give up when the controls seem odd at first. It takes a few minutes to adjust, but the new item system is quick and easy... There's also the fact that you gotta remember not to point at the TV all the time. There are very few moments that the game will use the sensor bar, and even those times are on very few occasions. I really don't think aiming is a thing to worry about, especially considering you can recallibrate it with the push of a button (no waiting at all). Even with the weird angle I play at, I've experienced few to no issues with the controls (the few issues I did have were fixed in a short instant).

Wrapped up the game. Best Zelda ever conceived. End of.

I've got few to no criticisms to serve up for the whole game, and those few don't hamper the experience at all, nor do they take away from the crazy trip this game was.

It's going to take a lot to have any other game top this. Seriously. To go into minor detail...

HERE BE SECRETSThe few battles leading up to the end build up a SHITTON of hype and anticipation. Some of it got so extreme, I'd swear I was playing some crazy Zelda fan's wet dream of a fanfiction or something... Except it wasn't shit. It was awesome.

While the final battle wasn't as tough as I'd originally thought, I was thoroughly blown away by how flashy it was, and how ridiculously powerful it made me feel by wielding the sword of legend.

Just finished Hero Mode last night for this game. As great as the first play through was, beating it with the restrictions that are placed on you the second time around really feels like an accomplishment.

It took me forever to beat this game. Work plus other games kept getting in between...but I finally did it last month, lol

There are some things the game is very, very good at. Combat. Environmental puzzles. Varying areas through these puzzles. That last boss was easily the best visuals I've ever seen pumped out of the Wii. I still can't get over the repetition of going back to an area again and again, but they had a good middle ground with varying what you do. Motion everything, especially with the limited accuracy of the Wii Remote, is not always pleasant. But when it works, it works.

It's almost being apologist for it...there are moments where SS is absolutely amazing. there are moments where it's utter shit, and there are moments where it's Zelda - that is, easily above most of gaming, but burdened with the fact it's part of a series of stupid high standards. It clouds every Zelda game, and it sucks because I'd probably more forgiving of it. I love the game, but the times I've been frustrated with it cloud it.
