Wii U can't DVD or Blu-ray

Oh Nintendo! When will you get with the times? At least they care about price cost. This also confirms that the Wii U does not use blu-ray disks like what HGW pointed out.

I don't need a new blu-ray player or a new DVD player.

Yeah, I already have two Blu-Ray players. Besides, Nintendo's disc format is more than equal to that of a Blu-Ray disc, according to that last thread's link.

on a related note, consumers say their houses won't have Wii U playing capability because they already have an HD gaming system and don't need a gimmicky one.

Don't see why. It would've been nice to have a Blu-Ray player in the WiiU, as I don't have one, but I don't think it should be standard for video game consoles to play movies.

It can't cost that much to play DVD's just throw it in there...to me it's something basic that should come standard regardless if Nintendo "thinks" everyone has one, their thinking is completely fucked up sometimes

If you're living in 2011 and don't have a DVD player, chances are you won't have a WiiU either.

Hmmm, I have no consoles OR a BluRay player. Do I go for a Playstation or this new Wii thing which costs more and HAZ NO GAEMZ, of practically the same graphical quality?

Um, considering that Wii U isn't out yet, you could get a PS3 (like you ought to have done already, you slacker, you), and then get a Wii U sometime after it comes out.
