If you're living in 2011 and don't have a DVD player, chances are you won't have a WiiU either.

I consider my family pretty tech savy, besides laptops we only have one DVD player and the PS3 for Blu-Ray sooo.....your point?

Do you need more than one DVD and Blu-Ray player?

I'd say so, multiple TV's in the house, makes sense. I'm not trying to justify it just for myself but DVD playback in my mind should just be a base feature.

DVD at the least, BluRay if it uses that format. Sure I may already have a DVD player, but why would I want to leave it plugged in if I can consolidate and have everything in one device. Saves power and space.

So should it work both ways, then? Should we get all pissed off because DVD players can't play our games?

Just trying to goad me now, your comment while I see what you mean is still dumb. Systems are not just for gaming anymore they're entertainment devices for looking at pictures, videos, internet, watching movies, streaming movies, etc etc etc. The capability of playing DVD's should be there is all I'm saying.

No goading, just seems like it should work both ways, according to your argument.

We shouldn't get pissed off and forget about a console altogether just because it doesn't have some ancillary feature that's not necessary to the main experience, which is gaming. If I want to watch a movie, I'll just walk five feet to my computer, or if I want to watch it on a bigger screen, walk twenty feet more to the TV in my living room. No biggie.
