Most of the time, you get much more money by selling your games with either a set price or a bid, then selling them to gamestop.
Why, you ask? Because that's just the way gamestop is. They're a business. So many terms and conditions that state how much a game should be sold for if traded in, you'd be lucky to get $30 for a game you bought three months ago.
For example.. You buy a brand new game for the Wii- $50.
You play it through and beat it 100%. Not much replayability to it and it's only gathering dust. That takes about a month, then a month later after the sidequest aftermath, you decide to sell it.
First off, Gamestop's selling it for $5 less ($45 granted the price didn't lower already) than full price. They also want to make some money (for now let's say.. $15.) So that's $20 off that game. You're left with $30 IF THE DEMAND FOR THE GAME IS STILL HIGH. Yes, this also plays a factor. If the game doesn't sell much at all, they want the most from their money. Say they want to make $25 off your used copy. You only get your $20 for that game. So in reality... You rented a game for $30.
How do you feel?

Whereas if you sell it yourself.
You can sell it $10 cheaper than full price ($40).
And you pocket that.
See? Just about half of what you paid
