Wow... I'm not sure which is worse.

They're only asking to see which parts of the website you visit and which games they play, they've been doing that on Wii for around four years now.

All they're doing is changing the terms and conditions and giving people the option to opt out of their membership if they don't agree with them.

I don't see a problem with a site collecting data if all they're collecting is info on which parts of their site I'm visiting. I'm assuming it's the equivalent of Amazon giving recommendations based on the things you've already searched there.

Sony didn't 'lose' anybodies info, it was stolen.
it's not like they left it on the train.

But I couldn't fit "Sony lets people take your info, Nintendo DEMANDS it, or you're history" in the title bar. :(

There's still a hearty difference between Sony's info(everything needed to steal your identity p much), and Ninty's info(what you click on their site).

It's basically, like the quote says, basically just what Amazon does. No big deal.

And even then, it's just Club Nintendo, which is just a place to get free shit.

Your an admin. I am sure you can fix the problem. Then again, forms do need title bars working.

With their atrocious security measures, you might as well say they lost it. They didn't make an effort to protect their customers' data.

I've seen no concrete proof suggesting that sony's security was shitty, neither have I seen any suggesting it was adequate.
until I see some, I'll stick by my idea that if it were really that bad, this would have happened AGES ago.

Does this qualify? Dunno how concrete it is, but it sure seems to indicate that Sony was holding their end up, certainly more so than a lot of people claim.

It looks compelling, that Sony were using Apache 2.2.17 but what about the dude posting nmap scans of supposed PSN servers? I don't know the validity of the scans but if they are genuine, they tell a different story to the one told by Google's cache.

So seems

* login server 2.2.11 (version from 2008)
* account server 2.2.11 (version from 2008)
* commerce server 2.2.11 (version from 2008)
* auth server 2.2.11 (version from 2008)
* store server 2.2.11 (version from 2008)
* rc store server 2.2.11 (version from 2008)
* native server 2.2.11 (version from 2008)

But looks here:

Quote:
Nmap scan report for auth.np.ac.playstation.net (199.108.4.73)
Host is up (0.070s latency).
Scanned at 2011-04-05 22:53:40 MDT for 428s
Not shown: 999 filtered ports
PORT STATE SERVICE VERSION
443/tcp open ssl/http Apache httpd 2.2.17

* auth (np) is running 2.2.17 ( this version is from 2010-10-18 )

The current version of apache seems 2.3.11 ( date 2011-04-19 )

There are servers running 2.2.10 in that nmap log, but seems CDN servers, and I have choosed to ignore then.

Conclusion:

Is true that auth.np.ac.playstation.net was running a modern version of Apache. But the server Login, Account, Commerce,Auth, Store, RC Store and Native were running a version from 2008.
