Metroid 3 came before Galaxy if I'm not mistaken.

Am a bit interested in New SMB. Zelda Wii, not yet >:

As far as im concerned there is only 1 zelda game the rest are remakes
More or less the same for mario

And anyone giving out a perfect score as a game critic needs to look over the word perfect and fired

they keep the same core mechanics (run, jump on enemies) add new mechanics (try wall jumping or ground pounding in Super Mario Bros.) change the level sets and change the setting (as far as I'm aware there hasn't been a 3D mario set in the mushroom kingdom since Mario 64)

using your logic, there has only been one battlefield game and the rest are just remakes.

I never played Mario Galaxy 1. I didn't play 2 yet, but watched my brother play (I was busy with cosplay).

"Mario with bombast" seems to be the theme. At first it was kind of awkward; then I realized it's a sort of self-adoration, then came to accept it. Levels, music, visuals designed to echo the older games. In other games it would be too much (see: MGS4). In Mario Galaxy 2, it's perfectly accptable.

I'm fucking loving this game so far.
At first, I wasn't really blown away, but as I'm getting further in (and realizing just how deep this game is) it's grown on me like acne on the nerdy kid or recoli on Taco Bell products.
The gameplay is pretty much the same as 1, and the addition of Yoshi is very much welcome.
The ability to switch to WEEGEE on the fly is also very nice -- Note - There are only certain levels where WEEGEE is available, but after beating casual mode (main story), you can switch up on Starship Mario.

As you progress in the game, you'll find that it was made much more challenging than galaxy 1. Now me, playing mario games way too fucking fast (FUCK DA POLICE), have made it to 117 stars in only two days of play, and I've gotta say that a lot of them weren't a breeze. It also makes me smile that I'm just before halfway through, when normally I'd be just about done in any other 3D Mario adventure. I've had my share of "WHAT THE FUCK"s and "THATS UNICORN SHIT"s thrown about, and I'm not usually one to get video at games (inside joke between me and few others. It's pretty much just getting mad at video games).

Want me to prove to you that they ramped up the difficulty with one or two examples?

This fucker is the boss of World 1. Also, later in the game, you fight a flaming version of it.
First time around he ain't too easy, but he's not fuck all end all impossible imo.
(P.S. MINDFUCK -- When you see it, you'll shit brix)

The guy playing is an absolute tool at times, but this should show you that the game's got some tricks up its sleeve.
It's not HO SHIT hard in this area, but it's the only halfway challenging area I can think of off the top of my head.

Also, this game is indeed very fuckwin. If you've got a Wii, I suggest you bump this to the very top of your list and buy it asap. With 240 stars, it's worth every cent\euro\pound\ounce\sexual favor to the store manager.

Nah trust me, first time around it's somewhat of a bitch.
I'm actually disappointed because I expected the game to kick my ass more... but my senses of something being hard were severely dulled lately.
By what?
Motherfucking Money Seize. Look it up, it's a flash game.
40 levels with 25 coins each
10 secret levels with 1 coin each
1010 coins in the whole game.

Using whatever free time I had in shop (shop class in school), it took more 1 or 2 months to beat the game :U

Nintendawg, you might enjoy NSMBWii, if you haven't already tried. I enjoy some hard games too, and this one really frustrated me at some points. The last world is a bit hellish at times, especially if you're going for all the star coins or whatever they're called.

I have it, and to be honest it felt more like a chore than anything else.
I remember being over halfway through World 9 when I last played it, but I couldn't actually get myself to play any further.

So that's three Mario games on my list that feel like chores D:

Sunshine
NSMBWii
and Galaxy 2..

You may be asking what the last one is doing there.
Green Stars.
It's just like the Sunshine blue coin hunt all over again, and I can already say that I don't have the patience for it :I

EDIT - There's also one thing I forgot to mention, for some odd reason, I was never actually immersed in Galaxy 2 at all... I just remembered why I loved the first one and Okami so much (I was thinking of my favorite games list or whatever), and I remembered how sucked in I was to the gameplay and plot of the two games... Galaxy 2 didn't really reach out to me much.

I did enjoy it a lot, but it kinda flew by and doesn't seem memorable to me :\

Well, I'm sorry to hear that. Perhaps these types of games need to be approached a bit differently though. Not as a goal to be accomplished, but an adventure to be experienced -- as cliche as that sounds. A lot of times I get caught up in trying to get the final star or finishing the game when I should be trying to enjoy each and every part of the game as I encounter them. I don't know, that's just my take on it.

But the original Galaxy for it's story? Really? There was a small segment at the beginning and then a little more at the end, but in between there's nothing. Okami, I understand that though. One of the most immersive games hands down.

Mario galaxy indeed had a story, although yes I was referring to Okami more when I said that.
The story was mostly seen through the library in the hub world, but it shined through a few smaller points too.
The one thing about the first galaxy though, is that it was memorable.

For me, Galaxy 2 did little to leave an impression on me.
From Galaxy 1, I was blown away by the soundtrack and the unique level design. Hell, Gusty Garden Galaxy's song is always stuck in my head.... Galaxy 2... I couldn't name a song from it for my life.. It seems like they just sort of came and went :\ There's also the levels in Galaxy 2... They seem sort of... bland if you get where I'm coming from.
It's almost as if they were made quickly so they can rush to the next one (give or take a few levels).
My prime example - Starshine Beach Galaxy... That level looks like it isn't even complete. There's so little there, and I was so exited for a level with the Piantas :I
