"We've seen some research that says 60 percent of people who bought a Wii Fit play it once and don't play it again. So we have to get the balance right, because what we are doing is bringing new consumers into the market for the first time in their lives sometimes—and we have to treat them with respect," Xbox Europe VP David Gosen told attendees at Microsoft's GameFest UK keynote.

"At the end of the day that comes back down to creativity... They are not good if they are gimmicks. There is a challenge for us to make sure that all new user interfaces are deep and are rewarding to the end user," he stated.

The fact is, only 40 per cent of people are using it more than once. The other 40per cent are obviously a more commited bunch.

How many people buy games without completing them? Loads. No doubt you are all gonna flood with "oh but I do"...

I don't care. Most people don't. I don't call them games a gimmick, even though they're not getting the use out of it.

I think the last time I read, only 2 in 10 people use treadmills more than once a year. That's 20%. Are treadmills a gimmick? They're certainly a lot more expensive than the Wii Fit.

The fact is, it sells a lot because we'are, as a race, a set of fat pie munchers and we need to lose weight. The problem is we'are too lazy to do anything about it. So we buy Wii Fit, then realise we dont actually wanna use it cause we can't be *rsed.

At the end of the day, Wii sold a crap load of Wii Fit games, to people who are'nt even game players. Good on em!

That's exactly what it's not. Nintendo comes off as arrogant scammers that sell things that look good but have no substance to them. These people will not return as customers again.

No, but now that the number of casual Wii owners now outnumbers the hardcore Wii owners, who does it make more sense to cater for?

That is why I have lost all faith in Nintendo as a video game developer.

Hey, any of you guys ever take a statistics class during your educational careers?

First thing you learn in the class: statistics are bullshit. It really bothers me when people view statistics based on "research" or "studies" as news or fact. Are you telling me that out of the 6.25 million copies of the game sold, 3.75 million games have been used once? I'll tell you what that study showed, out of two hundred volunteers who answered a newspaper ad, 60% had played the game only once. Those things are ALWAYS bogus.
