well it rarely goes above 50 degrees but that is when i have been heavily gaming for more than an hour it will just close all of the programs and then restarts but this was when i has a fan on the side panel blowing down onto the cpu i did not look at the temp before this but i moved it to the front and the temps in idle have been reduced by about 5 degrees

i think might of been damaging the cpu with the fan on the side panel

I'm no physicist, but having a fan blowing air IN means that all the heat inside doesn't get much of a chance to get sucked OUT...

i have now configured it with a intake at the front of the case so it is in front of the main hdd and an exhaust at the rear

I'm no physicist, but that sounds like the best way to do it.

do you think i could have caused damage to the cpu with the heat?

also something that could be off point if i had 1 intake and 3 exhaust would that be good or ok at running cool (intake at the front and exhaust at the rear)

In my opinion, you can never have too many exhausts. You can, however, have too many intakes. Sounds like you've struck right now.

As for lasting damage, I think if you had you'd have seen it. Chances are once it settles, it'll be fine.

right i get the idea http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/comp ... -kwn1.html this was the case i was talking about so no intake on the side but keep the one on the front and have 2 exhausts on top and 1 on the back

Random restarts aren't necessarily caused by hardware problems. Next time it happens, open the Event Viewer> Windows Logs> System> then look for a line flagged as 'Critical' that happened at the time your computer restarted. Screenshot it and post it here.

Click the start button and in the search box, just type Event Viewer
