Yes, there's already a thread for this. That was for the beta. This is now that it's released.

point is this game is tits and a timestamp, man.
Needs a mid-tier PC to get it running with anything resembling a decent framerate, but once you get it going, good Lord.

It's a shooter with a shitton of classes and customization, but it breaks away from most shooters in the sense that it's not about sitting back with a rifle in the most hidden location you can find and picking off everyone from 2000 meters. No, that doesn't actually work in Tribes, because this is a game about going fast. That seems to be the core of it, using everything from a combination of the "ski" ability(you cease having friction) and the jetpack, to your own explosives, all for the sake of attaining speeds that rival Formula 1 racers, and using that speed to cap the flag, evade the fuck out of enemy fire, and so on.

There are no walls to duck behind. No hidden positions to camp from. You go fast, you get in there, and you fuck shit up. If you go slow, you die. If you stand still, you die. If you throw a grenade and then accidentally gain speed, you run face-first into it and die.

Basically, it's fun as balls, and you should all get it. Have a video of /v/ playing Reddit in it.

Seriously, I haven't seen this at all.

It reminds me of when my friend modded the XBOX version of Halo 1 and made it so if you crouched you would go insane fast and essentially fly if you hit a small bump.

Tribes is cooler than Vanquish in the sense of movement cause the maps are fucking HUGE.

My laptop struggles to run this (no shit.) but i still try and play it despite achieving about 7fps everytime I get near somebody, that's how fun it is.

So I was half-peer pressure'd into playing this when Joey and Caleb started playing around a week ago (I think? I have no grip on time anymore). No regrets, shit's pretty grand. I don't run it particularly well, but it's dealable in most situations.

Picked up the starter pack on Steam during the summer sale and decided to give this a shot. Loving the hell out of it so far, although I will say that playing CTF is irritating when you have idiot teammates who leave the generator undefended and demand somebody go for a suicide run and repair it alone while it's still being camped by 1-2 guys.

Mostly play the heavy classes (Juggernaut/Doombringer/Brute), focusing on defense and area damage.

Ever tried capping as a Brute?
With their ridiculous HP, they can build up some speed with disk-jumps(nowhere near as much as a Pathfinder, mind, but more than you'd expect a fatty to get), and that ridiculous HP also makes him a nightmare to chase down.

Unfortunately I can't cap for crap regardless of what class I'm playing, mostly because I'm pretty terrible at high-speed maneuvering (I usually don't break 200 when skiing). I've narrowed my classes down to Technician and Doombringer (and Technician is pretty good offensively if you have the Rockwind).

So this game's popularity has been waning for quite a number of months.
A majority of the hardcore fanbase has deemed the game dead, and many updates have really caused the game to be a lot less grand than it used to be (it's pretty much pay2win at this point, and there's speed caps on the flag holder, seriously).

That being said Hi-Rez is now trying to save this game.

I'll be paying close attention to this. Should be pretty interesting.

I got an email asking me to fill out a questionnaire about the game. There is so much that needs to change with it that I didn't even bother :/

And not that it's really related, but if you're looking for a free PC shooter, Project Blackout is worth looking into. I stopped playing a year or two ago because hackers were running wild, but I hear they've got them under control now.
