To be honest, a simple reformat should do the trick. It only sounds like a software problem, as everything else seems to be booting fine.

Before you do that, have you tried hitting F8 during booting? This will let you select a few options, one of which is the "Load Windows using the last known working configuration".

If THAT doesn't work, then just reformat it. Depending on which Windows you have, you might need to google it.

Other than that, some of the guys might be able to help, but don't be surprised if they link to American sites... :D

A reformat will basically wipe everything off the hard drive, meaning it'll be as fresh as it was when it first rolled off the production line. If you have Windows 7, there MIGHT be an option to format it without needing an actual copy of Windows (the reformat/OS data is sometimes kept on a partition, which never gets deleted.

But how are you going to transfer all the stuff onto a portable HD if you can't even get the PC to boot up?

Its like trying to get things out of the boot of a locked car, but without being able to unlock or open the boot.

My advice, don't frankenstein a new PC with older cheap crap. Unless it was already previously bought separately by you it's not worth the hassle of scavenging parts.
Need to know your budget though.

Well my dad just said dependent on the spec I was not realy wanting it to run the best games but just a few mid or low ones but it is also how do you get lights on your pc

I would say £300 to £400

I was wondering about the hard drive because it has all of the data we need onit

after doing all of this I get what you are going for it has an old windows 7 os on it I have an idea I have a 2gb memory stick and I could load it onto it and put it onto my pc

1) Beggars.

2) Choosers.

Pick one...
