Deus Ex 3 has been announced and I'm eager to see if it's an improvement over Invisible War.

Never played the original because it wouldn't run on my PC... I actually have an original copy of it though. Deus Ex 3 gonna be PC only? I'd really prefer it on 360 as it's a much smoother and more enjoyable experience for me, despite the decenceness of my PC.

So far I've only heard that they're making it. No idea what platforms it'll be on.

Yeah, I've played through that game four or five times, since it was released, it's easily my favorite game of all time. I'm contemplating a new playthrough where I'll kill any major characters I can as early as possible (as crazy as that sounds, the game is actually prepared for you to try that.)

They'll be releasing more info on DX3 "this summer" (so, yeah, E3.) No word on platforms, but given that they're using the engine from Tomb Raider Anniversary, that strongly infers that it'll be on at least 360 and PC, and probably PS3 for good measure.

It's a totally new team (given that Ion Storm has long since disbanded) but Warren Spector has already given the new guys his blessing, Harvey Smith is still a free agent as far as I know (so there's always the chance Eidos could recruit him,) and they clearly know that Invisible War wasn't as well received as the original (rightfully so) and will be working hard to live up to the original.

Obviously, DX3 won't be as hardcore, old-school PC-design based as the first game, and one of the major reasons why Invisible War failed was because the devs drastically streamlined the gameplay to cater to Xbox players. I still think applying console game design to this franchise could work, if done correctly (see Bioshock or Mass Effect for possible models) but I'm totally getting the PC version, if only for the mod community that's sure to embrace it (yeah, Orrah, the HDTP is dope )

Whew...yeah, that's all I've got for now. But given Eidos Montreal's new development mantra of 18-24 month cycles, this game won't be seeing retail until at least Fall 2009...a hell of a long time for a massive fan like myself :/

I'll look forward to more DX3 info then, just hope they do it right this time!

I'm considering another playthrough of DX soon, not to mention when HDTP finally releases - from what I can tell they're nearing the final stages now.
