No, I don't think that's the case. They're changing to get consumers, but that's not the same as changing for consumers.
If they cared about consumers, they wouldn't have gone through every action possible to fuck them over short of a mandatory blood sample to start up a game.
No, they care about money. They figured they could fuck everyone over to appeal to devs and still get shittons of customers(which is a possibility I expressed a while back, "I hate this because it'll either fail and MS will probably drop out or because it will work and other companies will see they can fuck everyone over and still profit"), but when they saw that wasn't the case, they backpedaled like fuck.

I don't like supporting companies who like spitting in the face of their customers--and no amount of OH FUCK WE'RE GONNA LOSE, CHANGE STRATEGY will change the fact that they did spit in the faces of their potential customers. I'm sure other people feel the same. That's why I think it's too late.

If you don't feel the same about their actions, well, I'm happy for you, your world seems like a better place than mine, but the majority's against you, and you can't just disregard them all as "haters."

How naive.

You really think a business as big as Microsoft (or Sony, or Nintendo) is out to please it's customers? Like they think about anything other than the money they will receive? It's a business, not a public service. Any thought you have that they may be pleased with you, you can thank their public relations skills for. Do they do something as a good gesture? It's merely a marketing tactic.

So MS want to give you some restrictions and suddenly they're an evil empire? They make a change you don't like and they suddenly don't like you and are evil? C'mon mate aren't you supposed to be the intelligent one? Either a company is more liberal with it's money in order to win you over, or it sucks in the money without a care. It's a business strategy, I'm sure they feel no love for you.

When I said "for consumers" I didn't specify that they cares, just that the changes were done for them. They heard the feedback and made the change. That's what I want in a company. Sony did it for the PS3 the last few years, with the piece of shit system design they had, they seemed to do more with it than I'd have ever thought possible. MS basically listening and adjusting. Regardless of how you think affinity is involved, it's basically a dynamic business strategy that's influenced by feedback from the intended demographic.

Also, in which way did they "spit" in the face of their consumers? The way I see it, they don't have consumers for this product yet. So how can they screw them over when they havn't even been given the option to hand over their money? They're saying "this is a product, either buy it, or do not". If these people buy it, then it's their choice to hand over their money, knowing full well what the product is. No one is being forced these policies because no one is being forced to buy the console. Don't like it? Buy something else.

They made some changes that some people didn't like. I honestly didn't really mind, especially with the cool features it brings. Hey, can't please everyone. Doesn't mean they're a bad company.

But console gaming has been molded into shape from the best of PC gaming. These new consoles use x86 (which most games are programmed by) in order to bring you a more seamless transition in graphics and applications, and porting to be used on different consoles. Just because it's on PC, doesn't mean it won't work well for a console.

I don't think it's right to berate what a company is doing with their console because it's done on a PC. I mean, it's something that's going to happen anyway, and we're lucky it's not this gen.

I never said you're a baby, I suggested that your naivety was getting the better of you.

C'mon mate it's a gaming forum. At least I'm keeping the topic constructive.

I like how "oh shit, nobody is gonna buy our product because we made them hate it, quick, what's Sony doing? okay, just do what they're doing" is a dynamic business strategy.

And how did they spit in our faces? Kinect. The Xbone is markedly more expensive than anything else in this generation, and a big part of that is the Kinect that they're making people buy if they want the console. Cool, we don't need the Kinect anymore for the console to work, but we still have to buy it if we want the console. At least before people were actually going to use it to play their console. Now people that have absolutely zero interest in the thing will just be buying a hunk of hardware to set somewhere out of the way while they play their games. That's a dick move. Make the damn thing optional to purchase, or set up an actual bundle that people can choose to buy, rather than forcing everyone who wants to buy an Xbone to pay for the Kinect they'll never use, as well.

The Kinect WILL NOT and SHOULD NOT be removed from the bundle. Also, just because you CAN disconnect doesn't mean you should. For those people losing their shit over privacy paranoia, that's great, but Kinect is meant to be part of the system, and you really are sabotaging the XB1 experience. I've said a thousand times both here and elsewhere why Kinect being included is necessary and won't be changed, so I won't get into it again here. Making it optional to purchase makes absolutely no sense from Microsoft's standpoint, or that of the development community. People just need to deal with it. If you want an XB1 without Kinect, get a fucking PS4, there'd be basically no difference.

I agree with the few here who have said they actually liked what the XB1 used to be. That all said, many didn't, and I understood their complaints. I don't agree with all of them, but I understood. MS reverses basically every god damn thing that the vocal minority was bitching about, and a fair percentage of that same group of people regard it with continued hatred and apathy. I'm not going to argue that the XB1 we're getting now is inferior to what Microsoft's original vision was, but there is give and take in every scenario. I was genuinely excited about some of the features of the original unveil and for people to piss and moan about it only to continue when they get what they want from MS is a pretty major piss off to me.

The same people who talk about wanting the systems to not be carbon copies of each other, then lose their shit when somebody tries to do something different. Some warranted, but a lot of it not. I personally don't want 2 systems that offer me the exact same experience.

As for what this whole saga of "bad" policies and reversals of them means for Microsoft and the Xbox One. I think people like us, on these gaming websites often times lose sight of the fact, we are not the average gamers. The vast majority of PS4 and XB1 future owners will have no idea (nor will they care) what path each console took to get to where it is. They are going to look at experience and make a choice on where to spend their dollars.

This is the primary reason why incessant bitching on the internet (largely from people who weren't going to buy an Xbox anyway) shouldn't be allowed to ruin things for everyone. (re: I'm not saying all the change that's happen is bad, it certainly isnt).

Because "oh shit, nobody is gonna buy our product because we made them hate it, quick, what's Sony doing? okay, just do what they're doing" isn't something that you say to translate what you think is happening, in order to make it more rational. I would bet all of my belongings that no one said that at MS once. Not once. If that's what you think one of the most profitable and successful companies ever to existed runs, then you please continue to believe that.

And as for Kinect, I've covered this. Don't like it? It's not for you, and therefor don't buy it. I didn't care about Nintendo when they forced motion control to the Wii. I just didn't buy the fucking thing.

While privacy was a concern, the main reason I dont want kinect is because fuck waggle controls. There's no substitute for analog.

I dont disagree. I dont think kinect devalues any of the experiences you were going to play though. if anything it coyld yet enhance them. voice control is obvious, but I am sure there would be more applications

All this crying, bitching and moaning is hilarious to me.

I had already decided not to given into fucking dumb shit DRM policies on a console so I was part of that group that wasn't going to buy a Xbox One. Do people want it? More power to you, but it wasn't for me the moment it was decided that it needed to be connected every 24 hours. HGW already said it before, it is not for me. And he was right, so I voted with my wallet: I won't be buying an Xbox One.

Now that they went back on this however, maybe I might just buy one.

I am more interested in PS4, but I am not thinking of buying either one any time soon.

Can we stop arguing over a fucking console already? It comes down to personal opinion. Some of you are going to want the xbox one and others the PS4. Both consoles will pretty much be the same thing. You guys will probably end up with both systems in the end it is not going to matter. We are using these systems to play the games that they are going to be releasing so who cares. If you are a true gamer you are not going to give two shits what system you play a game on as long as you can play the game you want to play you are satisfied. If you want all these features just buy a Windows PC, if you can't use the keyboard to play then use a controller. A PC has had these features of what they are putting on consoles for years. This is the part where I scream PC MASTER RACE because that is what I tend to only contribute to these arguments. Also, A Wii U is a thing. Much cheaper than the PS4 and Xbox one and it has some games for it now but it will get more games as the life of it goes on.

Says the guy who started an Xbone bashing thread.

Stay classy.
