Any one tried this?
I am, felt like revisiting JRPGs and this one interested me being from the Valkyria Chronicle chaps at Tri Ace. That and the fact its daftly released around the same time as FF13 and got buried.
Still not sure if I like it though.

I thought Valkyria was developed by SEGA WOW.... Did Tri Ace have anything to do with Valkyria?

Haven't play RoF but I've always been interested.

Quite right VC was Sega Wow, got myself confused with Valkyria Profile. Probably something to do with RoF being Sega published and with game place very similar to VC.

Any one played it? I am really warming to it.

I'm interested too. It was always on my radar, but looked like it might delve too much into the Square androgynous character/bullshit story too much.

There's the PS3 version too, I'm not sure if one is better than the other.

They only had the 360 on in store otherwise I may have gone PS3.

It is a bit SE its true, and very Japanese. Not just in what is happening and the characters, but also there being little voiced dialogue and iffy tutorials. Also I am 6 hours in and I am sure they still haven't started telling me the story yet....

BUT the combat is really interesting. You control 3 characters (one of whom is Nolan North) directly in battle with a timer gauge saying when your move will end (like VC). Running and shooting are the two key direct controls but you can also use hero moves and tri attacks (bare with me this is tricky).

Hero moves set a straight line the character automatically dashes along where you can control which target you attack, when you shoot and when you jump. How much you can do is limited by the length of the dash and how quickly your character charges shoots (which happens faster the closer you are to a target). SO you can run towards a target charging more and more quickly the closer you get, if you end near him you will take more damage if he survives your attack but more time in range means more attacks OR you can dash way past too keep your self safe but limiting damage and further attacks.

The Tri attack is earned by dashing between the other 2 fighters. Earning enough charge you can active this attack which runs the 3 characters between each others positions (1-2, 2-3, 3-1) in a triangle. They all charge and attack while doing this and it can be incredibly devastating on big enemies if you get them at the center with long distances between each character as the length of their run still facilitates more attacks, and proximity still effects charge....

Get all that. And there of course are weapon types, upgrades, items and special combos to add still more depth.

They all spout JRPG bullshit when they win, and I think it takes some inspiration from Skies of Arcadia, but none the less really enjoying it.
