Yeah, this isn't the same at all. It was a phishing hole in the COD:MW2. Infinity Ward is working to patch it in the next day or so.

As for the 2nd thing in the article. I tend to be weary of random internet stories. Until MS warns of a larger problem, I'll take it with a grain of salt.

Well, this isn't the first thing that MS has had to deal with since the Geohot deal started. Apparently, there have been a number of people that exploited something in MS's points system, and MS has lost a fair bit of revenue due to people adding thousands and thousands of points to their accounts.

Agree with Sypher

And just putting my xbox fan boy hat on for a second...

This is nowhere near as epic fail as Sony's latest cock up. And notice the difference in communication strategy?

Problem on Sony machine - nothing for days and then a week later you get told your details are right about now being sold to some gangster in a slum.
Problem on M$ machine - email comes out, press release and Infinity ward issue a patch in days.

I say again, paying for a service does occasionaly have its perks.

Although to be fair I more gutted then happy about this whole thing with PS3. I don't think its that surprising to know I prefer the 360 over the PS3, I still have both consoles, its just 360 meets my needs more and easier then PS3 does. It still doesn't mean I don't mind a bash on unchartered or GT5 on occasion.

But this whole thing has saddened me, that a company this large and successful can be so fucking inept is beyond me. I loved Sony from the PS1, right the way through to PS3, until 360 over-shaddowed it for me.

But I can really see this whole situation really screwing Sony out of the console market completely. US Senators, the UK Data Protection peeps and plenty of pissed gaming fans are going to take their toll on Sony. And lets be honest, they may be massive but the profit book isn't so massive at the moment

LOL they're screwing with people's ranks and asking for money? I think it's funny personally, no one in their right mind would be playing that pile of poo that calls itself a game. This is just one more reason not to play it...and to not buy from infinity ward.
