Just got my xbox, it's upstairs, in my room, miles away from any place that would enable a wired connection.

My brother traded in his wireless adapter, and I don't want to pay for a new one, as they're way too expensive.

I need your help, alternative wireless methods, whatever.
you're my only hope.

Is a computer in your room? If you use wireless to connect your computer to the internet, you can bridge your connection.

That would have been perfect, but my laptop won't let me bridge the connections, no idea why, and the internet seems to be providing no answer.

You can also use the original Xbox wireless adaptor if you can find it; it should be pretty cheap. The problem is that it only supports WEP, but you can flash it (if you're willing) to support WPA. I used to use it up until this year when I bought the 360 Wireless Adaptor used for a reasonable $25.

Fortunately enough my family use WEP, so I might have to look that up, but I found an ebay auction with the 360 one for £12, one bid and two days left, so I'm watching that and hoping that it doesn't shoot up above £30

you don't have to use the 360 wireless adapter.

There is always setting an extra router into bridge mode, though you may have to flash a new firmware into that, too.

I didn't say to use wired, I said you don't have to use the Microsoft 360 wireless adapter. Go buy a $15 adapter at your local computer store.

Those don't work as they don't have drivers for the 360. Last time I checked, anyways...

You can buy a wireless bridge, which is sort of like a wireless reciever that connects to the ethernet port on the 360 (and exactly what the old Xbox wireless adaptor is). They're generally pretty expensive, though.

His old one still works. There was no reason for him getting a slim in the first place. You just have to call no trade backs.
