Wait.... you're trying to get him to red-ring..
wat.

Crappy only half-working 360 = not covered by warranty
Red-ringed 360 = covered by warranty

Yeah, basically if my 360 had kept freezing without red-ringing then I would have had to fork out for a new one.

Since it red-ringed Microsoft support will happily take care of it for me.

Alright. If it's not working today when I get home, it's towel time. How long does that usually take for it to work? And (dumb question ahoy) I assume it has to be running?

I'm new to shenanigans of a deceptive nature. :?

I've been towelling my old one...doesn't kill it. My dad had a little fun with it and wrapped it in a heavy fur parka, then plastic, then towels, then another parka. Still didn't kill it.

Well, after towelling it for about a day, I turned it off, then back on. It kinda worked, the graphics were a little fucked up, so I turned it back off. I turned it on, and back came the E74. A little while later, my little brother (the same one who broke it in the first place) turned it on and it was fine. We haven't touched it since for fear that it might fuck up again. Once I leave the library, I'll go back and check it.

Wish me luck.

I've heard of some people just phoning and telling them they got a E74/RROD, even if it was just once.

Aaaaaand two minutes later, it borked itself. Still no RROD.

Is there a similar warranty for E74?

FUCK YEAH

Emails away!

EDIT: Wait, how long does the E74 warranty last? It says mine's expired. :?

EDIT #2: Okay, it's the same as the RROD warranty. My grandma got it as a Christmas present a little under 2.5 years ago, but I don't know how far back she bought it. Guess I'll have to check before I decide to dispute the warranty.

I've gotten a red ring. First time, actually. But the console has been sent for repairs four times earlier for malfunctioning dvd drive, melting gpu, freezing all the time and again dvd drive problems.

I'm trying to see if I got a warranty still though.

Oh yeah, you're like the king of console repairs. That's just ridiculous.

Yeah. I'm getting tired of it now.

But it looks like I can get a free repair. Minus the shipping method seems a lot more problematic than before.

I've got it back. A letter that came with it said they had given me a new one. I am trying to check the serial number to find out if this one is one of those that produces less heat.
