Do you know when you make a puchase against your own judgement and to your own supprise it turns out to be a fudging mental decision?

I played a demo for Defense Grid on XBLA. It seemed to be a sub-standard tower defence game, so I didn't really bother with it. But then I kept thinking about it.

Next day I bought it (800 points, £6.30 or somthing). Been looking for a single player game because of aforementioned (in another post) shit going down in my life, and obviously not wanting to socialise, it seemed a good idea.

Fuck me I've just realised this intro is too long.

Bought the game, fucking love it. Buy it. It's provided me with hours upon hours of entertainment. And I look back with fond memories. Remember ever playing FF Crystal defenders? I look back at that and think "Ohmygod that was devilishly hard"...and not in a good way. Some of the missions on DG are very tough but it gives you the option to think outside the box and come up with some fantastic strategies.

There's so many levels it's uncanny. And each level has 2-4 extra missions aside from the story. With each you get a gold/silver/bronze medal which goes towards high scores and achievements. Achievements are demanding but not impossible. You're well rewarded fo hard work, and the journey is great.

The concept it, Aliens are coming along a set path, to get to your power cores. You have 20. You can get them on the way, and on the way back. If an alien dies on the way back the core will slowly make it's way back to it's base, and another aliens is able to pick it up and make a run for it.

Seriously good fun. Tower defense games are usually brilliant anyway but this one is pefecty balanced and a perfect balance can turn a good concept into a fudging awesome game!

Fuck I should have made this a review.

456621 out of 5 stars.

I'll have to take a look when I get my 360 back. Enjoyed playing the tower defense game on the PS3 (forgotten the name!) so will probably enjoy this one too.

This game is now free for Gold members. Get it while you can, it's a decent play. Highly recommended.

Terra, if you like tower defense games, and enjoyed the first Starship Troopers movie, get Savage Moon on PSN.

Fucking top shit.

Alex, people don't pay for the free games, they pay for the fast network. It's a bonus. You know this, stop trolling.

Savage moon is pretty good but it doesn't allow much in terms of variation on the later levels. The required that you placed the units in a certain way and if you didn't you simply failed. Defense Grid isn't the best Tower Defense in the world ever, but it does allow for some creative variation on how you take the enemy down.

Both good games though, would certainly recommend Savage Moon.

I got Shadow of The Colossus along with a bunch of other big games with PS+, this service is weak compared to what PS+ gives.
At least give something bigger and better like a Gears of War game or Halo or something. Not a decent TD game.

Yup, so did I.

But what I didn't get is a fast network that doesn't take 8 house to patch Bioshock.

Dude if you wanna discuss this, please make a thread in the Battlefields section or something.
